Beautiful views, great kitchen, comfortable master but needs some upgrades
This rental has the potential to be 5 star with a some updating. Starting with what is great followed by some suggestions for updates and needs.* Amazing views of the beach from the ninth floor corner unit. You can see Clearwater Beach. * Indian Rocks Beach is a great location as you are within walking distance to great restaurants and parks. It has a homey community feel. * The plantation shutters are beautiful and easy to open to enjoy all the views. * The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, bakeware, dishes and glassware. Electric appliances include waffle maker, electric grill, blender, slow cooker, 4 slice toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker and electric tea kettle. There is even a small cooler to take to the beach. * The master bedroom has amazing views too. We found the mattress extremely comfortable and newer high end bedding. There is ample lighting in the Master bedroom to read by and a smart TV though we never used it. * The unit has beach chairs as well as beach towels. * The dining room table and chairs are beautiful and sturdy with new seat cushions. * Building has a security guard in the evening. * The full time residents/owners at this property are both friendly and protective of the building. In our opinion, the following would elevate this unit. * The living room furnishings. The photos on the website do not reflect the reality. All “leather” furniture have body oil stains. The sofa is sloppy and uncomfortable. * Per rental agency the pole light switch is broken; to illuminate this light, the “on/off” switch is manually plugging and unplugging the light fixture. The upper lamp worked intermittently. * Patio/ lanai...the website photos do reflect reality. Two of the four chairs (with palm leaf design) are broken. If you lean back, you fall onto your back. We assume these chairs are the reason for the small hole in the screen when we arrived. The chase lounge is broken and rusted. The webbing is broken or missing. The rusted overhead light never worked even after we replaced the bulb. We (nor rental agency) found the light switch. * We (nor rental agency) figured out how to use ceiling fans in either bedrooms. We found a fan remote but it was for a Hunter fan and it is not compatible with Harbor Breeze fans. * The oven drawer does not close properly. It falls off the track with every use. * Lastly, while this does not effect the value or aesthetics of the property when we arrived six light bulbs were burnt out. * Leave bulbs (and batteries) for renters to replace. We offered to buy and replace but management brought a few bulbs while trying to resolve light fixtures, lamps and ceiling fans-If not broken maybe a note or folder with directions. We are former owners’ of vacation rentals and are aware of the beauty and abuse to rental properties. We travel 4 months a year and are experienced VRBO, Airbnb and rental agency renters. Friends ask for rental referrals; with updates we would recommend this unit.
