For a special nature experience, the Six Mile Cypress Slough is a 2,500-acre wetland that measures nine miles long and a third of a mile wide with at least ten different species of endangered animals and plants.

To learn more about the intriguing history of the Fort Myers area, don’t miss the Southwest Florida Museum of History, which shows visitors how original Native American inhabitants lived alongside European settlers. The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium is another family friendly spot and hosts laser shows to teach visitors about stars and planets.
