The best time to visit Navarre Beach is the shoulder months of May and October, when there is still warm weather with fewer crowds. May brings 77°F Gulf water and the popular two-day Navarre Paddle Classic, while October has Gulf temperatures near 79°F and the Navarre Fishing Rodeo. June and July are the busiest months at Navarre Beach. The winter time is popular for snowbirds who want a relaxing escape from freezing temperatures.

Gulf Boulevard runs the length of Navarre Beach, and the causeway connects Navarre Beach to the mainland near the east end. The west end has quieter residential areas, including Grand Navarre and By the Sea, where some homes sit along canals.
Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is roughly 40 minutes east, while Pensacola International Airport (PNS) is about 50 minutes west. Both airports are less than an hour’s trip, though traffic on US 98 can add time, especially in summer. Compare flight options and check current routes before choosing an airport.
Sea turtles nest on Navarre Beach from May through October. Santa Rosa County’s lighting rules cover properties on both sides of Gulf Boulevard in the shoreline zone, requiring outdoor lights to be shielded so they aren’t visible from the beach after 9 p.m. If your rental faces the water, close blinds and follow the owner’s turtle-friendly lighting instructions.
Alcohol is typically permitted on public beach areas, but always double-check posted signs. Stick to plastic and aluminum containers, as Santa Rosa County strictly prohibits glass containers on the beach and can issue fines if you have them.
The road ends east of Marine Park, where the island reaches an Eglin Air Force Base test range that is closed to the public. To reach Okaloosa Island or Destin, return to the mainland and follow US 98.
