Best Golf Courses in the Tampa Area
Copperhead Course at Innisbrook
This course at the Salamander Golf & Spa Resort should be your first and maybe only stop on any golf vacation. They are award-winning and have the honor of hosting the PGA TOUR’s Valspar Championship each March. The course is challenging and impeccably kept with amazing wildlife all around to add to the unforgettable experience. Watch out for the “Snake Pit” on the final three holes and curious fox squirrels looking for a bite to eat. The unique design was created by architect Lawrence “Larry” Packard.
Pro tip: This course has tight fairways and lots of trees being precise with your shots is key. Also, make sure to book your tee time well in advance.
Club Renaissance Sun City Center
This course has a par-72 design and is great for all skill levels. The front nine holes are known to have large fairways and open greens, while the back nine are a bit more challenging. There is water throughout the course to play over and around and gorgeous trees everywhere that have stood the test of time. The course is exquisitely manicured and perfectly playable.
Pro tip: We suggest making sure you take the time to warm up and booking your tee time here well ahead of time.
TPC Tampa Bay
This award-winning course is fun and just the right amount of challenging. Designed by Bobby Weed and Chi Chi Rodriguez this unique course goes in and out of wetlands, lakes and woods. It is a great course for all levels and has been recognized for its playability and beauty. This course is often considered the best public course in the Tampa area.
Pro tip: Pricing can vary here depending on the day and time, so we suggest checking ahead and also looking for package deals. Twilight tee-times often offer a good bang for your buck. Also make sure to book early!
The Cabot Collection (Brooksville)
Wow, just wow! This club has two World Class Championship golf courses. The courses were created with the concept of making exceptional courses that are accessible to everyone. They also boast one of the best practice facilities in the world. The course layouts are perfectly unique to the area and the natural beauty all around is unbeatable.
Black Diamond Ranch (Lecanto)
This community is not far outside of Tampa and definitely worth the trip. There are multiple courses here including the 18-hole Quarry and Ranch Courses and a 9-hole layout, totaling 45 holes. Each course is unique in its own way, as well as challenging. They also offer a variety of practice facilities including a driving range, putting green and much more to up your game.
Pro tip: Make sure to check the dress code! This is an exclusive course and requires certain attire.
Westchase Golf Club
This fantastic club and course is well-known as one of the most beautiful public courses in Tampa. This course offers a lot of value being priced right with many tee-time options. You will spend your day playing some great golf while also enjoying the natural beauty of the wetlands, wooden bridges and bulkheads.
Pro tip: This club can get busy on weekends, so we recommend taking advantage of the weekday rates if you have a flexible schedule.
The Eagles Golf Club
This club offers two championship style public courses, each unique and challenging, you will want to play them both! Water comes into play on almost every hole on the Lakes Course, so be ready. However, with well kept Bermuda greens and large driving areas you can’t go wrong. The Forest Course is all about accuracy and curved fairways. This club is definitely one to visit on your next trip!
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (Dade City)
This club is just outside of Tampa and known as a “hidden gem.” They have two courses and full amenities for those looking for a full day experience. The courses can be demanding, but are also a whole lot of fun and great for all skill levels.
Pro tip: We recommend booking both the North and South courses. They each offer a unique and scenic Florida experience. Also, bring your A-game! These courses are not easy.
Fox Hollow Golf Club
This club was recently ranked “57th by Golf Digest’s Top 75 Courses Accessible to the Public in Florida.” The course is upgraded every year and the club offers many additional amenities. There are gorgeous rolling fairways, natural beauty and wildlife all around, lakes and all sorts of natural wonders to take in while playing this challenging course.
