Guestbook comments from the owner:
There are spots in South Florida that are truly special, that nod to its soul and history and are absolutely worth a visit if given the opportunity. Historic Shadow Point is one of those spots. Although it is only a 45 minute drive from Miami, it feels decades further with a peaceful and tranquil ora as soon as one enters the gates. The panoramic views of Largo Sound, the native plants, the two historic houses, the fish, birds, quietness, kayaks, porch, personal touches, local art and proximity to great snorkeling help make for a unique and wonderful experience. I highly recommend HSP to anyone looking for a journey to the "historic" Keys.
I was so fortunate to visit Shadow Point for a second time. I just love the feeling of being in such a special place. It is old Florida at its best with all the modern comforts. The main house and the cottage are comfortable, full of history and art, and have everything you might want. The property is private and beautiful and there seems to always be a nice breeze. Shadow Point has its own private beach from which you can swim, kayak, boat or paddleboard. Once I am at Shadow Point there is no desire to leave the property and for sure the only negative about visiting Shadow Point is having to leave. Thanks to Marlee for preserving and sharing Historic Shadow Point.
We celebrated our daughter and son in law's marriage in February, 2018 at Shadow Point, and found it to be a delightful and welcoming place. The period ambiance was charming, and the amenities were appreciated. The facilities were comfortable, and the setting was impressive. The host is very accommodating. We would love to visit again someday, and we would recommend Shadow Point.
