Perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat or just to get away for some time alone. This original Florida cracker-style house consists of the main great room, kitchen and dining areas, one bathroom and one bedroom with a queen bed. We do have a pull-out bed in the living room. It is a really cool and relaxing house. It is wired with WIFI, Local TV and Netflix. There is a huge music collection that you have full use of. CD's, Cassettes, LP Records and Radio. The home has central air, RO Water Filtration for drinking water and ice. Your dog is welcome. Two minutes to local ramp for fishermen. Bring your boat or kayaks.Close to marinas, boat ramps and restaurants. Take the local ferry to the out-island like Cayo Costa, Captiva and Cabbage Key for lunch. This is a remote location. So don't be surprised if you get a visit from our local peacocks. We sometimes see a set of pure white ones. Old Tropical Florida at it's finest.

Area Information
Pine Island is old Florida. No high-rises or stop lights here, but lots of things to see and do. While Pine Island offers passive enjoyment and relaxation, it is also a great place for interactivity and exploration. Please tale note that Pine Island has no beaches. The island is surrounded by Mangroves. You can drive or take a ferry to area beaches.
What Is There To Do?
Enjoy kayaking in the sheltered waters of Matlacha pass in the Pine island Sound Aquatic Preserve, Tarpon Bay in the Ding Darling Preserve, or kayak by the full moon or hit Matlacha at sunset. Since all the guides at Gulf Coast Kayak Company ) are naturalists and kayak instructors, it is the perfect experience for nature-lovers and paddlers.
Have a 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' on Cabbage key which inspired the song. Every square inch of the interior is papered with $1 bills and more than $10,000 which fall off every year is donated to charity.
Dig a lost civilization: Join archeologists from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) Museum of Natural History as they excavate or do a Saturday tour of the Randall Research Center ), Pineland and its Calusa Indians settlement, mound and canal system.
Mango Mania: Pine Island is home to the Mango Mania Tropical Fruit Festival every July. The island also commercially grows guavas, longans, lychees, sapodillas, jak fruit and a variety of other rare fruits you can pick up at local fruit stands.
Tour Matlacha: Try the 'fishingest bridge in the world'. Tour the arts and crafts shops and catch local artists at work. This tiny Technicolor village is reminiscent of Key West in the 50's. Fresh seafood right off the boat. Several excellent restaurants.
Fishing
Great fishing everywhere! Hire a guide for a few days to learn local hotspots, baits and lures, then take off on your own. One of our favorite spots is the Redfish Pass area north of Captiva Island. To the north is Cayo Costa, accessible only by boat with un-crowded white sand beaches, camping ,shelling ,treking and surf fishing.
Some of the best fishing in the world for Trout, Snook, Redfish, Snapper, Cobia, Tarpon, King Mackerel and Grouper.
The fishing in our local creeks is amazing too. It is a real thrill to flip a bait up under the edge of the mangroves and get an explosion like a quarter stick of dynamite. Bringing in the big ones in the confines of these creeks is a real challenge. Great for fly fishing too.
If you like lure fishing, all the old bass fishing standbys work great. It is always a good idea to drop by a tackle shop and check out the latest hot lure. Shrimp is always good too. They don't have to be live but keep them fresh.
