If you love the water, Indian River County boasts over 25 miles of uncrowded, pristine beaches with 13 public/free beach parks, multiple access points to the Indian River Lagoon, part of the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway, and Sebastian Inlet State Park. We are also home to Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, designated as the very first 1st national wildlife refuge by Teddy Roosevelt in 1903.
Vero has many cultural centers including the Riverside Theater, which is Florida's largest professional theater, the Vero Beach Museum of Art, currently exhibiting works by M.C. Escher, the Atlantic Classical Opera, Ballet Vero Beach, and numerous private art galleries.
Enjoy fine dining at locally owned restaurants, as well as all of the names you know from home. There are, of course, golf courses and hiking trails galore.
We are the Jewel of the Treasure Coast for our beauty and our history. In 1715 a Spanish Fleet capsized off our shores while it was on its way home to deliver ships full of gold and jewels.
