About this rental
Hurricane Ian damaged the Estero Beach Club and the Club does not yet have a reopening date. Repairs are underway and the Club will once again be a wonderfu, unique, vacation spot But we cannot accept any reservations until we have a reopening date. The Condo Board says the Club's repairs may last well into 2024, so our calendar is blocked until June 2024. If repairs are competed earlier, the calendar will be opened. Please check back later.
The Lairds' Estero Beach Club apartment overlooks the Club pool, beach and Gulf of Mexico. We have a spectacular view; you can see everything that going on and it's very relaxing. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a walk-in closet. The guest bedroom has a Queen bed. The living room has a 39 inch HDTV and DVD player and there is a 32 inch HDTV in the master bedroom. There is WIFI (high speed internet) in every room. Our dining table seats six and makes entertaining easy. The kitchen is well equipped and has ice and cold water on the fridge door. There are ceiling fans as well as central air conditioning. We have two phones. There is covered reserved parking. We have a notebook with restaurant menus and a second notebook with info about the area things to do, etc (The notebooks are usually under the end table). The "Island Trolley" runs the length of the island and stops by the Club.
We have beach chairs, an umbrella, beach towels and a cooler. My grandchildren's beach toys are there also. There are hair dryers in both bathrooms. There are books and board games in the apartment. The elevator is two doors away and steps lead directly to our door (1 flight). A coin laundry is on on the ground floor. The Club's heated pool, hot tub/therapy pool, 2 gas grills and 2 shuffleboard courts are all beach side, so you can enjoy the Gulf breeze and see everything.

Unique Benefits
The Estero Beach Club has the best location on Fort Myers Beach. We are far enough from the fishing pier and Times Square area to be away from the crowds, but close enough to walk to that area. There are restaurants within walking distance, and many restaurants in the area. The Beach "Trolly" stops by the Club, so you don't have to use your own car, or even have one. If you have a car, there is free covered reserved parking.
Why Kids Love It
Kids love to move from the Club pool to the beach and Gulf and back to the pool. They also love the kiddie "mini water park" at Bay Oaks Park which is diagonally across the street from the Club. They also have fun at the enclosed spiral slide at the Park's adjacent adult pool (check the pictures). Parents are able to watch the kids play on the beach while they enjoy the Club's beach front pool. (Very few places have beach front pools.)
Area Information
The Estero Beach Club has the best location on Fort Myers Beach. It is one mile South of the pier and Times Square area (that's what you see coming over the High Bridge onto the island - turn LEFT off the bridge). There are many restaurants and shops at Times Square as well as nearby beach activities. It's a nice walk to the area, especially when sundown approaches.
The beach is quite safe because there is no undertow and the sugar white sand is perfect for long walks. The Bay Oaks Park is diagonally across the street and has an adult lap pool with a tall spiral slide and a great mini "water park kiddie pool. The park also has baseball diamonds, tennis courts and a gym. There are also picnic tables. Publix Supermarket is 1 mile South (turn right out of the parking lot). The Beach Library is two blocks South and loans DVDs and CDs as well as books
Thomas Edison had a laboratory and Winter home in Fort Myers. Henry Ford's Winter home was next door to Edison's place. There is also a museum there and these places are easy to find - it's a "straight shot" in to Fort Myers (about 15 miles). The Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins have Spring training in Fort Myers.
Favorite Places To Eat
We especially like the Matanzas restaurant. It's on the Bay side of the island near the high bridge onto the island (from the Club turn on to Crescent Street). We like to dine on the enclosed porch or the outdoor deck to enjoy the view of the Bay activity. Sometimes we see a dolphin (they go to the Bay to have their babies). The Gulf Shore Grill overlooks the beach and is near the pier. Nervous Nellie's is very good ( in the Times Square area). Junkanoo on the Beach is near the Club and you can eat on the porch or inside. The Whale is good and you can dine on the roof if you like. At the Pier Side Grill you can dine on the beach side terrace or indoors. When we go there we usually walk to the end of the pier to check the fishing activity. We have a notebook with restaurant menus in the apartment; it's usually found under the end table.
Inside Scoop
Thomas Edison and Henry ford had Winter homes in Fort Myers (on Magregor Blvd. They were friends and neighbors. Edison had a laboratory there and there's a museum there as well. It's easy to find - cross the bridge and you're on San Carlos Blvd., which becomes McGregor Blvd. It's about 15 miles. When you see the statue of the girl on the right side of the road - slow down, you are almost there.

The everglades aren't very far and offer air boat rides; it's a nice day's outing. The kids might enjoy the Pieces of Eight Pirate Cruise, and there are other boat tours, such as the San Carlos Bay Tour. The Dolphin and Nature Cruise covers a larger area. Fishing charters are easy to find. Besides the island's golf course, there are many, many golf course in the vicinity.

The deposit for a weekly stay is $300; the deposit is applied to the balance due. The balance is due 2 months before your vacation begins. A larger deposit may be requested for longer stays.
The Estero Beach Club's rental regulations require a minimum rental of 1 week. Owners are not allowed to rent for less than a week. But, one can leave early or arrive late if that works for you.

About the owner: My wife and I are retired university professors and live in Tallahassee in North Florida. We purchased our apartment so we could vacation and visit my parents in Fort Myers at the same time. So, our three sons grew up vacationing at the Estero Beach Club. They are all grown now and the Club is our favorite place for reunions and just relaxing. It's also a favorite place for our grandchildren. My parents moved to Florida when I was 4 years old and I have lived in Lakeland, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Fort Myers as well as Tallahassee. I taught at Florida State University; my wife taught at Florida A&M University. My schools were Stetson University, George Washington University and the University of Virginia. My wife's schools were Converse College, the New England Conservatory, Boston University and Florida State University.
Why this property? Before we purchased our apartment we stayed at a nearby motel, as did my parents. One day mother and I were walking on the beach and as we walked by the Club she remarked that the second floor corner apartment would be perfect for our family. Some months later the apartment was for sale and we bought it. Mother was right - it has been the perfect vacation spot for us, our children and grandchildren. It remains our favorite place to visit. It has the best location on Fort Myers Beach!

No. The Club is a No Smoking condominium. Smoking is allowed in the parking lot and beach.
Are swim diapers allowed in the pool and is there an age minimum for the hot tub?
No. Swim diapers are not sufficient; children must be potty trained to use the pool. Children must be 12 years old to use the hot tub.
What is the deposit for a weekly reservation?
The minimum deposit is $200 for a weekly reservation, longer reservations may require a larger deposit. The balance is due 30 days before your vacation begins.
Is there a minimum age for renting at the Estero Beach Club
Yes. Club rules require the person making the reservation to be at least 25 years old.
Are visitors/guests allowed to have pets?
No. Club rules do not allow that.

Personal checks or money orders and PayPal. We are not set up to accept credit cards, so we don't have a "booking fee."

We stayed 10 nights in Dr. Laird’s condo and we absolutely loved the place. The condo is in the perfect location, 1 mile from the pier and Times Square, which is an easy walk. The view from the unit is fantastic. The grounds are lovely and we loved the pool! The condo feels welcoming and homey. We really liked that the complex is quiet. And Dr. Laird called us twice to make sure the condo was everything we expected and that our vacation was going well.We have already planned to come back next year and stay longer.

My husband and I stayed in the Laird’s condo for 10 days, 9/1 - 9/11. The condo is fantastic! Plenty of space, fully stocked kitchen if you want to cook, comfortable furniture, and that view from the balcony…just perfect!! The beach out front is quiet and this time of year was pretty empty making it feel like you had the whole beach to yourself. The condo is a mile from the pier/Times Square, which was an easy walk for us. We love to walk the beach and walked an average of 5 miles a day. We even purchased a week pass to the weight room of the Bay Oaks Rec Center across the street. We also loved the pool and sunned in the pool chairs nearly every day. Dr. Laird called twice during our stay to see if we liked the condo and how our vacation was. So thoughtful.This place is a gem and we loved our stay so much that we are booking a 15-day stay for this time next year.God Bless!!

We stayed at Dr Lairds condo May 21-28, 2022. Everything was as described. It was clean and comfortable. We loved the view from the balcony and the layout of the club. We loved the pool being on the ocean side and gas grills at the pool. We loved that it was on the second floor, and on the end of the building. The door was only a couple of steps from the stairs. The beach was wide and not crowded at all. It was at a great location, within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. You can also bicycle everywhere and there is also a trolly that stops right in front of the club. The unit was more than well stocked. We did not want for anything there. It was truly like home away from home.. Oh, and Dr Laird called us to see if everything was ok, and then called again on the day we were traveling home. Have never had an owner call to make sure everything was ok. I loved this. It made me feel like i had known him forever. We loved it there and would definately stay again!!! We enjoyed our time at the Laird’s condo! This was our first time to stay in Estero Beach, and we found the condo to be in a convenient location to everything. Everything you might need for your stay can be found in the condo—just show up and head to the beach! The Club was very quiet and not crowded at all, which was appreciated.We spent a day at Lover’s Key as well as a day on Sanibel and Captiva during our stay! As usual, vacations are never long enough but we enjoyed the time we had to unwind and relax at the beach and are grateful to the Lairds for opening up their home away from home to guests!

Wayne L.Anniversary Yearly Vacation Week
Each year the week of our anniversary we take a vacation. This year we wanted to try a new area. So we choose the Ft Myers Beach area. I looked at several condo listed on the web. This one was in the area we were looking for. It was a two bedroom two bath. The unit came well stocked with everything you need. The king size bed gave us a great night's sleep. There is enough room for up to six people. The pool and hot tub area were also great. It's only steps out the door to the beach area. There were a great bunch of other guest staying the same week were there. There is quit a few good places to eat in the area.

This was our second stay at Estero Beach Club and this unit was even better situated in the building and equipped than the previous one. The location is absolutely ideal as it is right on the beach and a short walk to the restaurants/bars located at Times Square. Bill was very responsive to any questions that we had. The condo was in perfect condition upon arrival. We had four adults who fit very comfortably. The beds were very comfortable as well. This condo is only steps from the pool or beach where you can see dolphins and some of the most amazing sunsets. Anyone we ran into was very welcoming and gave us recommendations on where to eat. The property manager made sure to say hello and asked if we needed anything. When we come back to Fort Myers, Bill’s condo will be my first stop to see if it is available. My friend and I had a wonderful week at Mr. Laird^s condo. It is in a great location with a great view of the pool and the ocean. The condo was everything it was advertised to be, plus a lot more. The kitchen cabinets were stocked with everything you would need, and the beds were very comfortable. I especially appreciated the beach chairs that were there for our use. I would definitely come back for another visit to this condo!

This 2 bedroom condo was perfect for our anniversary trip with another couple. The large unit has two bedrooms with two private baths. The supplies in the condo make the vacation so much easier. Beds were comfortable. The full kitchen and living space was ideal for a week stay at the beach located right outside. The Estero Beach Club was filled with nice people. There was a grill to share right by the pool and hot tub that was kept clean. The beach itself was ideal. Good white sand with soft waves, perfect for sunsets. The condo is located just a short walk to main area of town (approximately 1 mile/15 minutes). Close to a grocery store and a quick 20 minute drive to all the local tourist sites. It is nice that there is an assigned parking spot that goes along with the condo. Owner was great: very easy to communicate with and overall a pleasure to work with. We truly enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I just returned from a week vacation at the Estero Beach Club. We stayed at Mr. Laird's condo there. The unit is very nice and has everything you need for an enjoyable vacation. The condo is on the second floor, and has a beautiful view of the beach. Mr. Laird calls when you arrive to ask if everything is what you were expecting. The unit is very clean and quiet. Everything you need for the beach is there also, umbrella, beach chairs, cooler, and towels. It's located far enough from any crowds, but within walking distance of the pier and restraunts. We met several couples our age at the pool, and had a real good time with them. We hope to return next year at the same time. I highly recommend this condo because of location, price, and the owners are concerned that everything is what you read on the rental page. Beds and furniture are clean and comfortable, kitchen has everything you need, and sitting on the deck is very relaxing, looking right out to the beach. We definitely will rent this condo again.

I just returned from a week long stay at this particular condo. I stayed there with my 2 teenage daughters. It was such a beautiful club and the condo itself was exactly as represented. It felt like home from the minute we arrived. The condo was well supplied with everything you would need for your stay. It was so nice to relax and have dinner and we had ample space to do so. We grilled out several nights and even enjoyed dinner on the patio. We enjoyed the pool and direct access to the beach. The club has an on-site laundry facility and covered parking. The condo is conveniently located close to shops and restaurants. The owner was extremely accommodating and even checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely return in the future and continue to stay here. Thanks for making our stay so great!!

My daughter and I stayed in this condo for a week. The condo was very comfortable, clean and convenient to everything in the area! We had a great time relaxing at the beach right outside the building! It has everything needed! Beds were comfortable and the view was spectacular! Had a rainy start to our week, Alberto went through in Sunday and Monday but still enjoyed the great view. This is the most supplied condo we have stayed in and has everything you need. Beds are comfortable and if you need to clean while there all supplies are there. Our stay was wonderful. Loved walking on the beach and enjoyed the pool. Very nice walking to restaurants and shops

My sister and I spent two glorious weeks at Dr. Laird's condo in late April, early May 2018. We've been travelling to Florida for about 10 years and this is the best experience we've had so far. As the previous reviewer said, it isn't the fanciest condo in the complex, but it is by far the best supplied we've ever stayed in. From the ample kitchen supplies to the very comfortable beach chairs, you'll have everything you need for a fabulous vacation on the beach. The beds are comfortable, the living room and patio directly overlook the pool and the beach - what more could you ask for!The condo complex itself is impeccably maintained, staff are helpful and there are lots of welcoming, friendly repeat visitors who are happy to give you tips on where to go/what to do in the area or to answer any questions you have.I wholeheartedly recommend this property for a fun, relaxing beach vacation. We loved it so much we've already booked for next year.

Mary B.ANOTHER WEEK IN THE “PARADISE” OF FT. MYRRS BEACH
I have read the description of this condo, the facilities of the Estero Beach Club, and the surrounding area written by Dr. Laird. I have reviewed the photos of the condo, pool, hot tub, outdoor grilling area, and the beach. We have stayed in this condo twice a year (May and October) for the past 5 years and I can personally guarantee that every word he wrote is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Every photo depicts things EXACTLY AS THEY WERE WHEN WE STAYED MAY 5-12, 2018. We have stayed in many other condos in the Ft. Myers Beach area before we found this one. Many were “fancier” and a whole lot more expensive. We feel this condo gives you the gives you “the best bang for your bucks”! If you are looking for a place that feels like a home, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! The place is clean, with a well stocked kitchen including a new microwave, new dishwasher, and new blinds. There are at least 12 plates, a ton of silverware and glasses, as well as several skillets, and pots and pans so you can cook anything. Dr. Laird did not mention that the chair in the living room is actually a recliner (not usually found in most rentals), great for getting your feet up after a long day. Dr. Laird always calls the day after you arrive to make sure everything is ok and that you are happy with conditions of the condo. He is very easy to work with, even posting his cell and home phone numbers on the refrigerator to contact him should a problem arise. I can guarantee he will call you back if for some reason he doesn’t answer immediately. The couch, love seat, and beds are really the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a rental. The beach, with its sugarlike sand, is the best I have ever visited. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THIS CONDO!
