So welcome to Key West and the Shipyard section of the Truman Annex. You have many choices of accommodations and since I am not a real estate salesman or property manager, allow me let the photos and description speak for themselves. My over sized two bedroom, one bathroom condominium end unit (cross ventilation) is located on picturesque Southard Street, the main entrance to the best location on the island, the Truman Annex where you can walk to just about everything you want to see or do. I am confident you would like this vacation home away from home. It is impeccably designed, meticulously maintained and you are surrounded with restful colors on the wall and art work from my many visits to Cuba on educational and humanitarian trips. I have everything you need for a worry free island vacation. Top mattresses, high thread linens, thirsty bath towels, large deep beach towels, high speed WIFI, reserved and secure parking and cable TV. Your comfort is my first priority and between my home itself and the large back deck shaded with a large umbrella, you can "rest" assured that you will enjoy your stay. The furniture is comfortable. The kitchen fully equipped from the Bosch dishwasher to the exotic micro wave and the Keurig coffee maker. Need a hair dryer? Got it. Iron? In above the large front loading washer and dryer. Beach chairs? Next to the W/D. Ask me about other amenities. And yes, there is the mandatory blender. This is my personal home so I would like to deal with you directly on email and telephone before we make a booking. By condominium association rules, THERE IS A MINIMUM OF A 7 NIGHTSTAY USUALLY FROM A SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. Now on to more detail.
Unique Benefits
1. My vacation condominium is larger than most at 720 square ft.
2. I have a cable tv in both bedrooms and the living room.
3. My parking spot is extra wide and just a few feet from my back door.
4. Appliances are all top line from the Bosch dishwasher to the Keurig Coffee maker.
5. I am on picturesque Southard St. with the security house just steps away.
6. The pool is 100 steps from my back gate so near enough for a super easy walk and far enough from any noise.
7. On the walls is art work from my frequent visits to Cuba.
8. And finally, my properties are given deep cleaning following CDC guidelines even though the pandemic seems to have wound down.
Why Kids Love It
Where do I begin? I have a Pac n Play and booster chair for very little ones. I have games and toys for all ages. And the chickens, little gekkos (not the insurance spokesman however), nearby playgrounds and waterpark and of course the pool make this a very family friendly home.
Area Information
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say but you name your passion and Key West has it. Water activities? There's snorkeling, sunset cruises, waterskis, para sailing, diving, kayak eco tours and glass bottom boats for the non swimmers. The Arts? Three professional theaters and a symphony and musicians in just about every purveyor of adult beverages and you can take painting lessons and other art activities at The Studios of Key West..
Attractions Within Walking Distance
I could say everything and anything but to be specific, the Ft. Zach beach is 800 yards away. Duval Street with its unique shops and award winning restaurants is two and a half blocks in the other direction. But you name an attraction e.g. Hemingway House; Truman Summer White House; the Aquarium etc., they are all within walking distance.
Favorite Places To Eat
Blue Heaven has been my favorite restaurant for over my 30 years of being in Key West. Order the Yellowtail Snapper on Angel Hair pasta and you will agree with my assessment. But all the well known and popular eateries...LaTrattoria; Antonias, Red Dog, Mangos, Flaming Buoy, are all a stroll away.

Year purchased: 1999
About the host: I live in Key West half the year and the rest in Boston where my two daughters, their significant other and two granddaughters reside. I have loved Key West for years and when I sold my public relations company in 1999, I purchased my first of two properties in the Shipyard section of the Truman Annex. I also own a two bedroom, two bath cottage down the street from a Touch of Cuba if a party of up to six need a place to stay. My career was in radio and television before being a partner in a major public relations firm. I also am a professional actor with my last show in Key West being the musical "Young Frankenstein"at the Waterfront Playhouse. Oh yes, I also teach as an adjunct at Lasell University in Newton, Mass.
Why this property? Frankly, I was bummed out that by living in Key West for six months, I had no nice vacation property to rent. So last December I purchased a second property which I named A Touch of Cuba in Key West since I have lots of art work and memorabilia from my many educational and humanitarian trip to the island to our south. So I live sometimes here and other times in my cottage
