Area Information
A string of soft white sand pristine beaches, protecting an aquatic preserve with locally-owned stores and shops. ‘Irresistible’ pretty much sums it up.
Cape San Blas is located on St. Joseph Peninsula, a narrow stretch of land extending out from Port St. Joe and curving around St. Joseph Bay. The “Cape,” as most call it, was named the best beach in America (2002) by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman (a.k.a. Dr. Beach) for its pristine beaches. Better still, the St. Joseph Bay Aquatic Preserve remains one of the least populated coastal areas in the state where residents and visitors have an excellent opportunity to experience nature.
Nearly equal parts pristine beaches, a bay with abundant sea life and a laid-back lifestyle, Cape San Blas is truly a vacation paradise. The Cape is easily accessible from Port St. Joe, about a 20-minute drive. Families who vacation on the Cape choose this spot for its beauty and seclusion. St. Joseph Bay is only body of water in the eastern Gulf of Mexico not influenced by the inflow of fresh water hosting one of the richest ecosystems along the Florida coast.
Popular activities include fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking and hiking. Loggerhead Trail is a 8.7-mile paved recreational pathway that runs the length of the Cape. Along the way, you’ll find local stores stocked with beach supplies and groceries, and unique restaurants with ice-cold oysters or hot pizza.
The gem of Cape San Blas is T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. The park is open for day passes only at this time.
Country Music Star, Stephen Barker Liles from the Country Duo Love and Theft with hit song Angel Eyes, shares how Gulf County, Florida inspires him.
Island-Like Vibe
“Gorgeous place and very low key. With access to both the gulf beach and the bay, you feel like you’re on an island.”

Why this property? We first visited the Cape in 2006 and loved the quiet, serene atmosphere, which was a pleasant departure from the hustle and bustle of other 30-A areas. Besides relaxing by the gulf or bay, there are ample opportunities for outdoor recreation (kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, biking, walking). There are small general stores on the Cape and a few restaurants, but no high-rises or raucous nightlife! Nearby Port St. Joe offers additional eateries, a lighthouse, a marina, a museum, and a full grocery store. Other great areas for exploration nearby are Indian Pass and Apalachicola.

Sea Salt on Cape San Blas
We just had a fabulous family vacation at the beautiful Sea Salt home on Cape San Blas! We had grandparents parents and grands -7 Adults and 6 children! This home was a perfect fit and was exactly what we were looking for. Outdoor salt water pool, just steps to the beach via a board walk with stairs. 3 stories with elevator and spacious views of the sand dunes and gulf in the 2 King en suite master rooms with a shared gorgeous deck. 3rd floor had another master suite and kitchen with a fantastic view of gulf even when washing up! Custom made table that we all fit around which made meal times great. The family area on 3rd was spacious and we loved the views and the grands loved the balconies. The bunk room was great for the 5 grandsons and twin bedroom just right for our granddaughter. We saw many dolphins, no sharks! Even rented a pontoon boat down at St Joes- which was a such an incredible experience! The owners, Becky Dowd and husband, were very attentive to all our needs and sent Chad over to make sure we had everything we needed. For Big groups/families I would suggest that you bring your own beach towels and a few extra bath towels. The washer + dryer work great. Weber donuts were yummy but ya gotta get there EARLY- the glazed croissants, and cinnamon were the hit!!! The Trading Post really has most everything youll need and the fresh fish market next door was perfect as we grilled out several times. We didnt want to leave. Thank you Becky for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back to this beautiful home and location!
