The house is a bright, open floor plan, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home near the Siesta Beaches. Within a 15 minute drive are numerous golf courses, Benderson rowing facility, many very good locally run restaurants of diverse ethnicities, and large shopping malls. This property is nestled in a quiet community a 10 minute walk from the white sands of Siesta Key's Crescent Beach and 3 blocks from the shops, restaurants and boat rentals of Stickney Point Bridge area. There are plenty of good restaurants, pizza, ice cream and boat and bike rentals within walking distance.
This home was built on property that has been in the family since the '50s, and is situated at the front of a large 0.4 acre property with over half of it a fenced-in, grass backyard. Kids and dogs love the safe environment in which to play as adults watch from the large screened lanai, kitchen, or great room.
The home has a lovely terrazzo-type floor, A/C, washer and dryer, gas BBQ, a fully-functional, fully outfitted kitchen, fast internet, and WiFi throughout the house and lanai. You can use your Netflix account on the smart TV. Our family travels in by plane from California and New Hampshire, so everything needed for things like Thanksgiving dinner is there.
The master BR has a queen bed. The other two BRs have a queen and a pair of twin beds. One of the photos shows the split layout floor plan with master on one side and guest BRs on the other. The large lanai is screened and glassed for 4 season enjoyment.
We built this place to our own design specifically as a bright and airy Siesta Key beach house. It is designed to accommodate our family and dogs for vacations in carefree, tasteful and low maintenance living. This house is designed to stand up to 150 mph hurricane winds, with low energy usage due to its special construction. We have tried to make this a turn-key place for visitors to enjoy, from Keurig and drip coffee makers, coffee grinders to hairdryers to beach toys, we have outfitted it for our use and yours. There is also a guest book, that we and visitors update with menus and brochures from local sites and vendors, including such things as rentals for cribs, baby strollers and sports equipment. Aside from the beach, within walking distance are coffee shops, restaurants, ice cream, pizza, boat and bike rentals, etc.
This property is located across the Intercoastal Waterway from Siesta Key on Beechwood Ave., which means you can visit the beaches without having to put up with traffic on the only two bridges, it is a quieter location, and the price is right. An advantage of single family homes is that you are not limited to a single car.
The local manager and owner are each a few blocks away. We will take care of your needs and of course, you can always contact us with problems, questions, suggestions or feedback. The property is under contract with various services, such as Cable, HVAC, pest control, lawn care, and like the manager, we can initiate service calls if needed.
Our family also owns another 3/2 rental house next door.
Unique Benefits
This is a single family home with a large, fully fenced back yard with both sunny and shaded areas. The whole back side of the house is a glassed-in lanai. The location was specifically chosen for the nearby coffee shops, eateries (none of which are national chains), watercraft rentals, local grocery store, etc. And all of that is just outside the neighborhood, so it is quiet at the house. The neighbors are all friendly, about half retired and half younger working folks.
You can walk or drive to the beach. On the way, once out of the neighborhood, you will cross a small drawbridge over the Intra Coastal Waterway and pass several restaurants, 2 ice cream shops, a small grocery, and boat, jet ski, paddle board and bike rentals.
Why Kids Love It
The nearby water and beach of course. But also the big yard with a good supply of kid and dog savvy squirrels and birds.
During the summer there are some very interesting camps, like swimming, rowing, tennis, marine biology, and circus skills.
Area Information
If you are looking at this, you probably already know about Sarasota and Siesta Beach. I grew up here and my family has been here since the 1800's, so it is hard for me so say a 'little bit' about the place. Your favorite search engine is a good place to start. Also feel free to call me.
It is on the west central coast of Florida where the Gulf waters are quite calm, the water is warm and shallow a good distance from the beach. The beach sand is the color and consistency of very fine sugar.
There is truly a 'Here' here. Along with Ft. Myers, it was the winter quarters for the likes of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and John Ringling, so a bit more depth than other places. There is one of the best art museums in the country, a fabulous circus museum and a well known performing arts center. You can enjoy and get lessons in all kinds of activities. There are many golf courses, tennis camps, as well as swimming, rowing, circus camps, glass sculpture, marine biology, etc. Within walking distance of the house, you can rent almost any kind of boat from kayaks to standup paddle boards to outboard motor boats and jet skis. Great fishing including deep sea fishing.
The local neighborhood is quiet and friendly. A great place for walks.
Favorite Places To Eat
Honestly, too many to list. There is a white 3-ring binder at the house with local menus and past renters notes. Many good ethnic restaurants from around the world in addition to American. Many excellent local (non-chain) restaurants.
The main specialty here is seafood of course, and the most popular place is typical in that it's tagline is "What is on your plate slept in the Gulf of Mexico last night"
Inside Scoop
So much to do and see. Just as an example, there are 29 golf courses in Sarasota, including 15 public, 3 municipal, and 11 private courses. There are also another 62 golf courses within 20 miles of Sarasota, including 37 public, 3 municipal, and 22 private courses. All kinds of water sports. Flamingoes that will eat out of your hand. Big art and performing arts presence. Classes in circus activities. The Legacy Trail is an 18.5-mile multi-use recreational (old railroad) trail connecting Sarasota and Venice (bike rentals available there). More very good non-chain restaurants than you could sample in a month, 3 of which are a short walk from the house.
Let me know your interests, and I can give you search pointers for your planning.

Awesome Place!
We escaped here from the cold northeast and it was perfect! Fully stocked kitchen that made it so easy to cook and pretend it's our own house. Super close to the beaches without having to deal with the traffic!

Best Rental Experience Ever
I can't say enough how great our stay was in two of Bill's Rental Properties. The experience from start to finish was excellent. The homes were clean and well stocked and the location was perfect for our family. Bill's communication was exceptional. He grew up in the area is a wonderful resource for all things Sarasota/Siesta Key. He is fair and quick to help out when any issues arise. We actually booked for one month with him and when we realized it would take longer to find our forever home, he offered up a second property next-door for us at a very reasonable rate and was graciously flexible to allow for our uncertain move timing. When hurricane Ian arrived he supplied us with all the info we could need to make decisions quickly for our family. He is truly a great guy. Both of his properties were stocked with plenty of linens, kitchen supplies (felt like I had everything from my own kitchen), and everyday useful items. I thought they were appointed very tastefully and both had wonderful screened back lanai areas perfect for fun evening with the family. Both homes have huge fenced, taken care of and landscaped. Even though we couldn't get our little furball to figure it out, the lanai also has a doggie door for easy in and out access to the backyard. There is plenty of parking and the neighborhood is awesome. We loved walking around the nearby church with a huge lawn and up and down the canal streets every evening. We really felt we got to know many of the neighbors also out walking pets because everyone was so friendly. The location is just across the south bridge to the key making it convenient to both shop/run errands off and on the key. We usually chose to drive over to the beach as we carry a bunch of stuff with us but it is only about a 15 min walk to crescent beach. During our stay we tried many restaurants and there is something for everyone. Some of our favorites...On the Key: Spearfish Grille (low key, live music, fresh good fish), Ophelia's (upscale), Island Tap House (small but yummy), Gilligans (tiki beach vibe with live music and fun atmosphere), Jake's Ice Cream. Off the Key: Screaming Goat (great quick tacos), Phillipi Creek Restaurant (loved the fish tacos), Local Pizza and Mad Moes in Osprey. Our whole experience was really positive and I would absolutely rent both of his properties again. Did I mention he makes the best key lime pie in Sarasota?

Owner response
The nice thing about having renters who are moving here to Sarasota is that they don't just disappear at the end. We look forward to seeing more of Todd and Michelle. I think I owe them at least one more Key Lime pie, since Todd repaired the clothes dryer even tho' it required almost complete disassembly to do it. They put up with trees and fences down after hurricane Ian, and even helped with the cleanup!
Great house!
What a great house! One of the main reasons we rented this house was the fenced yard for the dog, and walking distance for the beach & restaurants. The house was clean, comfortable and quiet! Great neighborhood to walk your dog! The house has about everything you could possibly need. From cooking to beach chairs, it’s there. The beach & a number of restaurants are a 10-15 minute walk. Parking at Crescent beach is minimal, you can park in a lot by the Daiquiri Deck across the street, it was a flat fee of $33 for 12 hours. If you like farmers markets, the Sarasota one is fabulous! The location of the house is perfect, within a 20 minutes drive you can be shopping, golfing, fishing, eating, or laying on the beach. Would definitely stay again. :)

Owner response
Dan and Diane are welcome back any time. They took great care of the place and were very personable and it was easy to communicate with them. They even found a new restaurant for us to try. Also, something very important from an owner's perspective, they took the time to call from the road on their way home to let us know about a last-minute problem with the dishwasher so we could get it fixed before the next renter.
