We could not have asked for more thoughtful hosts. Every need in the carriage house was anticipated, and more. The two floors are filled with fine art and folk art--something unique and wonderful to see with every glance. The setting is in a botanical garden, with a lovely pool and fountain. The house has a view of the lagoon, with a dock from where launches from Cape Canaveral are visible. Kayaks and bikes are available, too. The restaurants, shops, and art center of Canal Street are just a few blocks away. Flagler Avenue with its own attractions and leading to the ocean beach is just a few minutes drive away, and bikable. What a wonderful stay!

My husband and I stayed in the carriage house for the forth February! We love the beautiful and peaceful vibe in New Smyrna- the charming homes, peaceful waterfront, Farmer's Market and occasion beach visits. The beach Boardwalk is a fun walk with beautiful views , turtles and surfers to watch. Always a month of rejuvenation!

My wife Doris and I stayed here for the entire month of January. We planned nothing and did just about everything Including seeing a manned launch at the Cape. Being recently retired we were curious to know if the snowbird route is our future, it is! The world has become a crazy place and it's always nice if you can find a peaceful spot to call your own if only for a little while. It's hard really to put into words except to say that for us staying at Susan & Herbs place kind of resets our Life Clock. We slow down, wake up with no plan, enjoy the spontaneity that retirement sometimes allows (if you're lucky) and did just whatever came to mind without a care in the world…at least for a while. We look forward to going back and hope it can be a part of our lives for years to come.

Our vacation cottage was stunning! I would say it is one of my favorite rentals of hundreds of places I've stayed. The unit is a unique converted carriage house behind a beautiful old home built in the late 1800s. The main house is across the street from the intercoastal waterway and includes a private dock. The property is close to shopping and dining without being in the middle of noisy activities. Words cannot describe how lovely the gardens are. The hosts are really sweet people who have been married 60 years. You can tell how much they love each other and the oasis they have created.First floor had a sitting area with TV, bedroom & half bathroom. Upstairs had another sitting room & TV, full bath & well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs deck offers incredible views of the lush tropical plantings. Every amenity anyone could want had been anticipated--bikes, washer & dryer, fishing equipment, gas grill, exclusive use of the private pool, too much to remember & we barely used a lot of it. We were given a welcome basket of breakfast treats for us and even toys for our dog. This is truly a special place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any single or couple looking for a nice quiet getaway.

I have never written a review on any social network however when you meet the most wonderful people (Susieand Herb) and have the best vacation ever at their home you simply have to. Everyday you wake up to the most beautiful gardens on the property and the greatest smile from Susie and Herb. Add a private pool to the equation and you are in paradise. Many thanks for a great vacation. It was so peaceful we are going back next year.

We recently stayed in New Smyrna Beach, FL, in a charming carriage house. The luscious landscaping transported us to a land kissed by fairies. The winding paved walkways allowed you to wander the private well-lit grounds. An added bonus was a swimming pool with a soothing fountain where you could relax and read a book. Our hosts were gracious and made us feel especially welcomed. They shared a plethora of information of what to do and see in the area. Our hosts told us about the 1st Space X launch of the year so we could watch it and then we witnessed an evening Space X launch. We highly recommend renting the carriage house because it is within walking distance of downtown NSB with its shops, restaurants, and a short drive to historical sites and pristine beaches with shops and restaurants.

Our stay at The Carriage House at 9 Oaks was everything & more than expected! The owners Herb & Susie Rittger were the Best!! They treat you like family! Everything is so Beautiful & pleasant that you don't even want to leave the cottage! We will definitely be going back again soon! The Gardens & surroundings are Breathtaking! The pool is Beautiful & relaxing! We enjoyed all the gifts that were left in our room for us!

This was a spectacular vacation. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, everything was great. We were welcomed with open arms and felt like family from the start. We were greeted by Susie's daughter Julie and shown around. Welcoming us was a basket full of goodies, dog toy, and a bottle of chilled wine. The cottage was beautiful and complete with everything you needed. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. Susie and Herb could not have been more gracious. We fell in love with them and their beautiful home and cottage. Hope we can do it again in the future.
