Welcome to Little Gasparilla Island!

LGI is a magical, bridge-less, barrier Island that is 'only' accessible by boat.

The Water Taxi runs 365 days a year and leaves from Eldred's Marina on the Boca Grande Causeway.
25.00 for 2 (each way), pup is free. Parking is 8.00 day. 15.00 for each additional person.
You can bring your own boat (up to 26') and park at our dock. You can park your trailer at Eldred's Marina.

Enjoy 7 miles of a beautiful white sandy beach with the absolute best shelling and shark's teeth collecting in Florida! It is a collector's dream!

For the fishing enthusiast you will feel like you have arrived in heaven! Fish on the bay (off the dock) or in the Gulf. Enjoy your catch on the BBQ grill.

Peacock Lane Cottage is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath 'Key West style' cottage that is just a few steps to turquoise waters of the Gulf. (Sleeps a "maximum" of 4)

The cottage has a large private rear deck with a wide open view of the Gulf.
There is a dining table/chairs and chaise lounges so you can enjoy watching the Gulf and sunsets while you dine and relax.

There is a wonderful large outdoor shower plus a rinse-off shower to use after a nice swim or walk on the beach. (Both have hot/cold water)

We have supplied most everything you will need for your beach vacation, so pack 'very light' as there is an extra large washer/dryer so no need to bring much more than a few shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops, sand-shoes (for collecting all the fabulous shells) a bathing suit and a windbreaker/sweatshirt for a cooler day.

We offer a ‘complimentary’ Greeter with a young Island man on 'arrival' day. He will pick you, your luggage and groceries up at the dock and bring to the cottage.

Towels, soaps, and hair-dryers supplied.

We offer wi-fi Internet

No need to lug bottled water to the Island as LGI water is excellent.

Great kayaking and paddle boarding on the Island (Paddleboards and kayak rentals nearby) as well as boat rentals, boat tours and fishing tours.

Charcoal grill provided. Usually prior guests leave some charcoal but best to bring some of your own to be on the safe side, bring a bag if you enjoy grilling.
(No gas grill)

*Please note: We have a maximum of 4 overnight guests. This includes a 'total' of adults/teen/toddlers) and ask that you respect our policy.
Amenities:
*FREE Wi-Fi
*Central air & Central heat
*3 TV's with individual Direct TV and DVR.
*Well stocked pantry: Spices, pots/pans, crock pot, drip coffee maker, French Press, coffee grinder, many baking dishes, etc.
*Outdoor Chiminea in the front yard, great for evening fires or making smores or roasting marshmallows!
*Hairdryer(s) first aid, soaps, bug spray, sunblock, etc.
*100% Cotton Linens and Towels provided.
*Large Washer/Dryer.
*Large exterior shower and rinse off shower too.
*Bathroom remodel complete in March of 2023.

We are in the tropics and weather can be a concern. If there is a 'named hurricane' and an evacuation is required, we will refund your money for the days lost due to the mandatory evacuation. We do not offer refunds for late arrivals, early departures, light to moderate red tide or for other weather occurrences.

Check-in & Check-Out:
The cottage will be ready for you at 4 PM. Please no early birds as our cleaning crew needs every minute to get ready for your visit 'and' the State of Florida is requiring a minimum or 6 hours in-between guests.
Check-Out time is by 10 AM.

We offer complimentary trash removal on Friday mornings. You will be responsible to take what you generate from the Friday trash pick up time to your Saturday 10AM departure.

Our weeks run Saturday to Saturday.

We allow ONE, well behaved pup who is on flea and tick control and up to date on all vaccinations. No extra large dogs and no aggressive breeds permitted. (We must know if you are bringing a pup)

If you bring Fido, we will send you our simple Pet Guidelines.
There is a 100.00 pet fee (non taxable).

Unfortunately we have had some pup owners who have been negligent and not respectful of Little Gasparilla Island and our simple cottage rules. If your pup is aggressive, has any destructive tendencies or does not get along with other pups or people our cottage will not be a good fit as we want everyone (and pups) to be safe and happy.

You can walk everywhere on the Island and do 'not' need a cart but renting one for a day or two can be fun but not necessary. The golf cart shop is very hard to get through to so we are trying to find some private rentals. Please inquire.

Thank you for looking and we hope to see you soon!

** I will be answering your email very quickly so if you do not hear from me within an hour or so, please check your junk mail as my email address will not be familiar to your computer** Thank you!

Unique Benefits

We as owners live at the cottage during the winter and spend our time maintaining and upgrading the cottage each season. We take pride in Peacock Lane Cottage and want all our guests to enjoy themselves and have a wonderful time with no worries.
We are happy to share our more than "77" - 5 star reviews on another vacation site with you. We have truly been humbled by the reviews our guests have written and look forward to having you!

Why Kids Love It

Great fun discovering and collecting shells, sharks teeth, beach-combing, fishing off the dock or in the Gulf, building the best sandcastles ever, swimming in the turquoise water plus kids (and adults) can have a sense of independence as Little Gasparilla Island is FUN and VERY SAFE!

Area Information

Little Gasparilla Island (LGI) is a barrier Island off the SW coast of Florida. It is a best kept secret and is pure bliss! It is nestled between several barrier Islands and the mainland towns of Port Charlotte and Englewood/Placida.

Since there are no stores or restaurants you will need to bring your groceries and goodies with you or have our Island Grocery Delivery Service help you out for a modest fee. Preparing for your meals is a must.

The mainland is only a 15 minute boat ride back and you can easily come and go as you like or need to.

Most all our guests tell us that they don't want to leave once they arrive, but on occasion they make a run to the grocery store or want to explore the local area. We suggest visiting Boca Grande. (Take a quick right turn out of Eldred's Marina and pop over to the lovely Island which is less than a mile).

Boca Grande (Next Island over) has lovely shops, restaurants, a lighthouse, library and so much more.
If you don't want to leave, bring a few extra goodies with you so you can enjoy your week(s) without leaving or take advantage of our Island grocery delivery service. No need to shop on your way to LGI or while you are visiting.

Evan will pick up your pre-paid order from either Cape Haze Publix or Englewood Walmart and bring it to the cottage on your check-in day or during your visit if you prefer. Your groceries will be put in the freezer or fridge. Our guests who fly or have long drives or stay more than a week have loved this convenience.

Attractions Within Walking Distance

Explore Don Pedro State Park on the north end of the Island. About a one mile walk. Restrooms, covered dining area, grills. Pack a lunch and enjoy the nature trails.
A Park Ranger is on staff and they are great source of information about the sea life and animal life on the Island.
This park can only be reached by boat so is never crowded, usually a few kayakers and folks fishing on the Gulf and trail walkers enjoying the day. Sorry no pups on Park land.

We have a small gift shop called: 'Gone Fishin' Gallery with nice Island motif items and art work. Just a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Bobbie has many unique gifts and artwork.

Favorite Places To Eat

If heading off the Island for the day, we recommend The Pink Elephant on Boca Grande for a lovely lunch however there are 'many' nice eateries on Boca Grande or in one of the local villages nearby. You can enjoy so much the Island has to offer; shops, boutiques, galleries and lots of good restaurants (some right on the Gulf).
If you are bringing a boat, we will offer some restaurants to visit by boat.

Publix Grocery is in nearby Cape Haze which has a weekly Farmers Market.
For larger stores, you can go to Englewood which has the "BEST" Farmers Market every Thursday on historic Dearborn Street. (October - May)
Port Charlotte is about 20-30 minutes south of the Marina and Englewood is about is about 20-30 minutes north of the Marina.
Please note: Some restaurants may not be open for part of 2023 due to renovations after hurricane Ian.

Inside Scoop

The BEST shelling and shark teeth collecting anywhere! The secret is that LGI gets the best shells before ANY of the other barrier Islands! Find all your sea treasures right here all while on a quiet, never crowded beautiful beach with turquoise waters.

Absolute perfection

Three of us stayed at Laura and Robert’s beautiful, quiet cottage two weeks ago, and we are all still talking about its charm and what an amazing time we had there. The house is just as it looks in the photos, and honestly the pictures really don’t even do it justice. It’s just gorgeous, with numerous decks, seating areas and even a swing from which you can enjoy the incredible view of the water, beach, sunrise and sunset. The beach itself is mere steps away, and we spent most of our time there, floating in the pristine water or just hanging out reading and sunbathing until the sun started going down. Our neighbors were super friendly, and everyone gathers in the evenings to watch the sunset. Evan delivered our groceries as promised, and also made himself available later in the week when we asked him to grab us some lobster and scallops from the seafood store on the mainland. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful and friendly as can be. I highly recommend this little shangri-la for your next getaway if you are looking for something that feels remote and private but still has all the amenities of a 5 star vacation. You will not be disappointed!

Everything we could ever want!

This is my third time visiting Little Gasparilla Island and staying at Peacock Lane Cottage. We decided to bring along some friends of ours who had never visited the island as we were sure they would be thoroughly impressed. Just as I had expected, they were blown away by the beautiful views and the amazing cottage that we were to call home for the next week. The communication with the owners was nothing short of fantastic. Laura was quick to answer any questions I had an even made some wonderful suggestions of activities for us all to do on the island. The cottage itself was stocked with everything we could ever need and was SPOTLESS! I will continue to stay at Peacock Lane Cottage and will recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing getaway with a cozy home feel.

Paradise

This place is truly amazing! As good as the pictures look which is how I picked it! The ocean is right in front of you! The island itself is beautiful with tons of shells & shark teeth & sunshine! You can see the sunrise from the docks and sunsets from the porch! We were here for 2 weeks. We left the island once...very easy with a little pre-planning for the water taxi. We heeded the advice to pack light but bring plenty of food & it worked out perfectly! This particular house was super equipped with everything you could possibly need! The furniture is wonderful “Old Florida “ & unique antiques & all the beds are very comfortable! The outdoor shower is perfect! We never even used the indoor shower. You can sun on the deck or enjoy the shade on the porch swing facing the ocean! We had nothing but sunshine with cool mornings & evenings. A dream vacation and already booked next year here! Can’t wait! Laura is great and answers any questions immediately. We didn’t have any issues at all with the place. It was wonderful!

Perfect Florida Beach Cottage

We were looking for a quiet getaway and the chance to relax beachside. This cottage is in a great location just steps from a nearly deserted beautiful beach. There are no cars on LGI, only golf carts, and we saw only a couple of those the entire week. We saw a few people on the island, but certainly no crowds. The cottage is old-style Florida but renovated and well-kept, with casual beachy furnishings and decor. The property has cable and wifi, if you absolutely cannot do without those things. We spent lots of time walking the beach, fishing, and enjoying both the front porch and rear deck, both with incredible ocean views. Highly recommend.

Perfect Beach Place !!!

We had this house booked in May and unfortunately had to move it to another month. Laura was extremely accommodating and helpful during this time. She was able to find us another time to come. The house is perfect with everything you need. If you like to use a lot of beach towels like I do, I would bring some of your own though. The house is so close to the beach it only takes a minute to walk up to the house. It is pet friendly and has a gate so our dog was able to sit on the deck with us without fear of him running away. This was the best vacation I have ever had!! No loud noises, no traffic, no deciding where to go for dinner. Just relaxing on the beach and the deck with a glass of coffee or wine. You honestly will not understand how perfect it is until you experience it yourself. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Laura!!

Wonderful Getaway

We had a great week at Peacock Cottage. The house was excellent and had everything we needed. Evan had our groceries there when we arrived, Brett met us and took us to the beautiful house. Couldn't ask for anything more! Had a wonderful week of weather, beach and sharks teeth. Saw Manatees, dolphins, birds and turtle tracks. Already wanting to return!

Charming

If you're looking for a true getaway, LGI and Peacock Lane Cottage are for you. I could have spent the entire time on the deck watching the waves, but I forced myself to walk the expansive, shell filled beach. The cottage has everything you need and the owners are a treat.

Amazing Beach Front Cottage

My family and I made our way back to Peacock Lane Cottage for the second time and had a wonderful stay from start to finish — we are already talking about going back next year! We were able to check in early which was appreciated after a long flight from Maine. The cottage was very clean and comfortable---not to mention the amazing views from both of our private decks! The weather was perfect during our stay which allowed us to spend quite a bit of time walking the beach looking for shells and sharks teeth (there certainly wasn't a shortage of those!) We watched one of a kind sunsets right from the porch swing and took some amazing photos as well. We saw quite of bit of wildlife (everything from dolphins to crabs--very exciting for my 8-year-old daughter.)I truly cannot say enough about this magical place---it's one of those special spots that makes you sad to have to leave, but knowing that it will be there waiting for you on your next trip is always something that I keep in mind. The owners Laura and Robert are always fabulous to work with as they are willing to answer any and all of my questions and keep me informed of things happening on the island as well as on the nearby mainland. The cottage is also full of material to read which gives people an idea of the activities available (SUP/Kayak rentals, fishing tours, etc) which I found to be super helpful.I highly recommend Peacock Lane Cottage to anyone who is looking to get away and just relax---you will have no problem leaving all your problems at home as soon as you step foot on Little Gasparilla, it's one of kind!Definitely don’t need to rent a car unless you plan on visiting places that are further away. We were able to Uber very easily and use the Bird scooters for our stay. I would definitely recommend this rental and hope that I can come back again!! Thank you!

Our Own Private Little Slice Of Heaven!

My family and I arrived at Peacock Lane cottage after finding this adorable little spot the VRBO. I’ll admit, I was a bit concerned that we would be on an island with no stores, no car and no way off except by boat.... let me tell you that once we arrived all my worries were gone. We were met by a wonderful greeter at the dock that helped us load our things onto the golf cart and took us over the Peacock Lane Cottage (only about a 1-minute ride.) As you come into view of the cottage and the turquoise blue waters of the gulf, you know that you’re in paradise! I was so impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage and all the amenities...it was truly a “home away from home.” We spent the week relaxing on the beach (just steps from the cottage,) collecting seashells on miles of beautiful beach, taking walks, watching dolphins play and of course watching the most amazing sunset/ every evening. We absolutely loved the two decks that the cottage offered (one was covered and had a porch swing and the other was open with lounge chairs and an outside table that was perfect for family meals.) While there are homes on both sides of the cottage we had complete privacy, which was much more appealing than some of the other places I’ve rented from before. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this spot, it really is something out of a dream and I cannot wait to return next year. Working with the owner Laura was an excellent experience! She was very helpful to us during all communication (we spoke via email and by phone) and was always quick to return my questions. We explained our concerns about “island living” but Laura gave us all the information we needed to know about the water taxi, bringing groceries for the week, things available to do at the cottage as well as extra activities provided by other companies local to the island. If you’re looking for a getaway I would highly recommend Peacock Lane Cottage!
