The SPORT FISHING MACA OF THE WORLD !!!!! Sombrero Beach is considered one of the top beaches in the Florida Keys Have some fun in the sun at Sombrero Beach, a favorite hangout place for locals and visitors alike. Sombrero Beach is a beautiful, family oriented beach that features a shady park with picnic pavilions, volleyball courts, restrooms, showers, and full handicap accessibility.
Sombrero Beach is a turtle nesting beach and from April through October it is not unusual to have Loggerhead turtles, among other species of turtles, coming to the beach at night to lay their eggs. During this period we do not have tables or benches on the beach so we do not interfere with turtle nesting activities. If you are interested in helping with this lovely obligation please get in touch with F.D.E.P. holds classes in February or March every year to be a state certified surveyor. The City then schedules all of the surveyors for their day to walk the beach. Walking the beach first thing in the morning looking for turtle nests is an awesome experience.
Sombrero Beach is a dog-friendly beach too so bring your furry friend and make sure you have a leash and poop bags. There are places to shower them off if they go in the ocean and you want to get all the sand off before they get back in the car.
You can picnic at Sombrero Beach they have pavilions and restrooms too.
Enjoy a meal out at one of the many local waterfront restaurants and have some of the freshest seafood the Florida Keys has to offer. Don't forget to save room for some Key Lime pie for dessert!

Take a scenic drive down to Key West over the famed Seven Mile Bridge and take a tour on the Conch Train. Shop at the stores on a walk down Duval Street and visit Mallory Square where you'll find street performers during the evening. Make sure you stop and see the Mile 0 monument at the Southernmost Point of the Continental United States while you're there.

Our group had the Poke, Mahi grilled sandwich, cheeseburger sliders, and grill.
Highly recommend the two items we tried – burgers and fried shrimp. Quaint little local place right on the water the best French fries!
Make sure you buy either Avon's "Skin So Soft" or Neutrogena's "Body Oil" to keep the no-see-ums/bugs away. They start to bite as soon as the sun goes down.
The best snorkeling is at Sombrero Reef near the Lighthouse.
Don't touch the coral reefs! The coral reefs are dying because people touch the coral - please don't ever touch it or it will die! The ocean fish needs the coral reef to survive. We are loosing our coral reefs because people don't realize you can't touch coral. People who try and catch lobster find them in the coral and instead of using the Lobster 'Ticklers' to coach them out they go in with their hads and touch the coral which kills the coral.
Don’t forget good protective sunglasses – they're a must in the Keys and all of Florida. The white intensity of the sun is different than you may be used to in other parts of the US and the world. Protect yourself from eye strain and headaches and bring polarized sunglasses with UV blocking glass.
And don’t forget your sun block and sun block clothing too.

Remember all our rental check-in dates and check-outs. dates start and end on Saturday. This way we make sure to maximize our month with weekly rentals - sorry no exceptions.

The house was very clean, and location could not be better. The house was more amazing than the pictures showed. The outside tiki hut, (2) barbeque grills and pool made a perfect end to a day of fishing. The dock, bait cooler fridge and cleaning table all right there made fishing like you were at your own home. I will be coming back. Thank you to Lindsey. She answered all our questions and made the trip one to remember.

Sometimes you look at pictures. But you don't really look. In the downstairs kitchen there is no stove or oven. Only to find out its all outside. This was great. Spent almost all the time outside in the pool, deck or hot tube. Didn't need to go inside for anything. Fished off the deck with my grandson and caught 3 crabs and several fish. Small and let them go but what an experience. Location is great, Hey even promised great weather 83 and sunny every day we were there. We all had a great time in a great house. Owners stopped by once to check on everything, but everything was fine nothing was broke and would Definity come back. Thanks, guys, for a great house to use and a wonderful vacation. We traveled to Marathon for my cousin's wedding in Islamorada. There were 11 of us that stayed in this home and it was perfect for that amount of people. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom and it was very comfortable! The kitchen layout and living layout worked beautifully and having two refrigerators is genius! The pool, the canal view and the patio were more than we could have asked for during our stay. The beach is very close and we walked down there one time but we spent most of our time at the pool and the house. The only negative I can say is the kitchen needs to be better equipped for a house that sleeps 14 people. There were no measuring cups or spoon and very little plastic wear options. We travel a lot and every vacation we've ever stayed in has been pretty well stocked in the kitchen - even offering salt and pepper. This house - we had to buy salt/pepper, plastic wear, a bottle opener, wine opener, can opener and measuring cups. There were also no dish cloths to wash dishes or to wipe off counters. I'm guessing because it's newer they just haven't stocked up on those items yet.Also, I think being so close to the beach offering beach chairs would be a nice touch.

This house wonderful! Even better than the pictures. The layout allows for a large group. The outdoor kitchen is a gathering place. Many hours were spent relaxing at the hot tub and pool. Our 30 ft boat easily fit at the dock even with the owners boat there. Close to all the stores and the best beach around. We will absolutely be back again to enjoy this place.
