St. Joe Beach is between Mexico Beach (8 min drive) and Port St. Joe (10 min drive). The Beach bear is steps to the beach access that allows you to walk for over 2 miles along the beach without the disruption of houses thanks to a beach sanctuary! Or head the other direction and a short walk up the beach to Shipwreck for some awesome happy hour specials and great sea food! Plenty of food options close by (Brunos Pizza a stone throw away in Windmark beach is our go too), including Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach.
the beach of course! A dollar general is 1.5 miles away for a quick need, but the Piggly Wiggly is only 7 miles away in PSJ. Shipwreck is the closest food, and it has wonderful seafood and their breakfasts are top notch! Windmark community is 3 miles away and has Brunos Pizza, the Mill for adult beverages and live music. Also Windmark Beach Church always welcomes guests on Sunday (9 and 1030).

We stayed here last summer and absolutely loved it. The home was comfortable, clean and well maintained. It worked perfectly for our group of three families, with plenty of space, privacy and room to spread out without ever feeling crowded.The location was ideal with a short, easy walk to the beach (just across one street), and the beach itself was never crowded. We also loved having the pool and ended up using it every day. The elevator was a huge highlight for us and made such a difference, especially with luggage and groceries.Everything about the house felt thoughtfully set up and convenient. Small touches like having an ice maker made the stay feel easy and hassle free. We normally buy ice daily on vacation and did not need to once.We loved our stay and would definitely recommend staying at the Beach Bear.

Our family of four had the most wonderful stay at The Beach Bear in Port St. Joe last August. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away. The home is absolutely stunning — three spacious stories, 5.5 bathrooms (which made getting ready effortless!), a convenient elevator, and a beautiful layout that felt both grand and welcoming. Everything was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and truly felt upscale while still feeling comfortable and relaxed.The kids were especially thrilled about the bunk beds — it felt like their own little vacation hideaway and made the trip extra fun for them. We also loved having the ice machine available. It made packing coolers for beach days so easy and was such a helpful touch that we didn’t even realize we’d appreciate so much until we were there!The small pool was perfect for hot Florida afternoons — a great way to cool off after time in the sun. And the beach is just a short walk away. It’s tranquil, not overcrowded, and incredibly peaceful. Our mornings and evenings there felt calm and restorative — exactly what we were hoping for.The town itself is such a gem — charming ice cream shops, fantastic restaurants, and a laid-back atmosphere that made it easy to slow down and truly connect as a family. We made some sweet memories just strolling around after dinner. We also drove over to Panama City Beach a few times to enjoy the livelier tourist scene, which was fun — but we always looked forward to returning to the quiet comfort of The Beach Bear.This home gave us the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and meaningful family time. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay with easy beach access and small-town charm, this is it. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay. You won’t regret it! ️
