About the owner: I am a life-long South Florida native who's spent time in the Keys since I was a boy. In fact, I met my wife kiteboarding in Big Pine Key 20 years ago. We enjoy diving, fishing and playing tennis.
My wife Jeannie has her Master's degree in Fine Art from Yale and works as a Design Director for IBM. She loves hosting ,cooking and traveling. My earliest visits to the Florida keys were in the 70's. My wife's family has also been coming down to the Keys since the late 80's. We love spending time with our 13 year old son and my father-in-law in and around the ocean whenever we can find the time.
Why this property? Over the years of visiting the Florida Keys, we’ve discovered the Port Antigua neighborhood in Lower Matecumbe, which truly retains its historic charm. A bit off the beaten path from the more touristy spots, it maintains a welcoming, local vibe. The community boasts a private beach and a shared boat ramp, providing easy access to both Gulf waters and the open ocean—perfect for boating enthusiasts. Nearby activities include anchoring at our beautiful white sand beach, tubing and skiing in the calm waters of Matecumbe Bay, and snorkeling at Alligator Lighthouse and Cheeca Rocks. You can also enjoy backcountry flats fishing, tarpon fishing at the Coffins, and quick access through Channel 5 for offshore fishing. This part of the Middle Keys has less boat traffic than many areas, making for a more enjoyable experience on the water.
