*This comprehensive guide was created specifically for guests of The Butterfly Cottage at 443 97th Street Ocean, Marathon, FL. For current attraction hours, prices, and reservations, please check individual websites or contact us for recommendations.*
There is a local waterfront park 1 block over with a covered fishing gazebo and dog park, the air museum is across the street, there is an ice cream shop and coffee shop at the end of the road.
With a 15-20 minute walk you'll reach the local Hardware store, Walgreens, Liquor Store, Pizza shop, Cuban Cafe, Bealls, Dollar Store, and many more local shops!
We enjoy Lazy Days, Sparky's, Island Fish Market, Sunset Grill (has a free swimming pool for all to enjoy!), and Herbie's. Sometimes we go to Porky's for a pulled pork sandwich and world-class mini-golf. There is a neat ocean view at Havana Jack's in Key Colony, at is slower service - but if you know that going in, you will enjoy yourself there.
Sometimes at Sunset we head over to Key Colony Beach to watch the sun go down with the local crowd at Sunset Park. The municipal park has a fenced-in basketball area with 3 full size courts - which also doubles as a pickleball court for all to enjoy, plus huge baseball / soccer fields where festivals and special events are held regularly. Go to Captain Hook's everyday at 4pm to witness the fish feeding in their pond right next to the store and docks - the kids love it!
