Fantastic "Gulf to Bay" location surrounded by water. Directly on the beach.
This vacation try something rare and unique. Skip the big condo box with the slow elevator and the crowded beach . Our grandparents blessed us with two classic beach houses on the prettiest spot on the island. To make it affordable they lovingly converted the classic 100 year old homes into 6 seaside villas. Unit 4 is our one bedroom villa on the second floor of the beach house.
Our most requested for the romantic getaway. With a dreamy panoramic view up and downtime beach from the 8 tall windows that overlook the shore and the Gulf of Mexico. Lie in bed in the morning and watch the dolphins play. Dine in the evening at the table for two and enjoy the deep red sunsets into the ocean that the area is famous s for. Our guest book is full of rave reviews. This is the best of "Old Florida" which is fast disappearing.
The one bedroom apartment can sleep 4 using hide a bed. French doors to the bedroom that can be closed for privacy .
Unique Benefits
Florida Gulf Coast beachfront rentals at Grandma’s island beach house from the summer of 1925. The large home and carriage house are now converted into 6 Gulf front villas featuring full kitchens, pillow top beds, and fantastic views. Awarded one of the highest scores on the beach by Superior Small Lodging. Kids love an old place surrounded by water. We are small and personable. Gulf of Mexico and private white sand beach are right out your door. Wade out to the shallow sandbar to explore for shells and sand dollars. Or walk across the street to watch the yachts go by and fish in the bay. Old Timers call this part of the island "The Narrows" where the sand is just wide enough for a single row of homes.
Historically, the most beautiful spot on the tropical barrier islands of Tampa Bay between Clearwater and St Pete.
Why Kids Love It
Step back in time and experience “Old Florida”.
One of the last remaining historic beach houses and carriage houses on the island. This was the family getaway of FD Jackson, a seed merchant from Tampa.
Even adults find their inner child when saying here. These old homes were built right on the beach. You can't get any closer to the water . Enjoy our true island feeling surrounded by the waters of the Gulf and the Bay. .
- Walk across the street to catch fish and wave to the yachts going by.
- Feel the sand between you toes. Take a long walk to explore nature. We are a sea bird sanctuary. The gulls and sand pipers outnumber the tourist on this semi-private beach. Our dunes with sea oats provide nesting for turtles.
. Wade out to the sandbar in tide to find sea shells and sand dollars. .
- Build castles in our sugar white sand,
- Take a sea kayak to paddle along the shoreline
- Body surf in the waves if the wind is blowing.
Its very peaceful. The most mentioned word in our reviews is "RELAXING". That it feels like staying at their grandparent's beach house, Much different than staying at the typical big box condo with dozens of people sharing the beach. On our semi-private beach the sand pipers and sea gulls outnumber the tourists.
Down the beach is the small town of Indian Rocks, a former fishing village that was mentioned in several magazine articles as being what people dream about when they remember Florida in simpler times.
Crabby Bills with fresh catch of the day.
101 flavors of Ice Cream.
Guppy's for fine dining.
A short walk to "Caddys Pub" the nearby restaurant on the bay where you can sit out and have a drink and watch the boats go by.
At the end of a good day walk the beach and as the sun sets, look for the rare “Green Flash”
Watch a sunset and look carefully for a green flash at the last seconds before it disappears,
Do not look directly into the sun!
From Google "The green flash is an optical phenomenon that you can see shortly after sunset or before sunrise. It happens when the sun is almost entirely below the horizon, with the upper edge still visible. For a second or two, that upper rim of the sun will appear green in color (or sometimes blue).”

Perfect location
This location was amazing! The backyard is the beach and the windows look overlook the ocean. This was perfect for my grands. They were able to go in and out as they pleased and never got bored. There were tons of beach toys for them.to play with. We were close to everything we could want or need. The trolley also stopped basically right outside the door so we were able to go to Clearwater Beach and Johns Pass easily. We will be staying here again for sure!

Perfect beach front condo
My spouse and I absolutely loved this cottage. It was private and quiet. The beach was right outside the door with just a little walk. Loved the back where you could sit and relax, enjoy the beautiful Florida sunsets. It was so good to be able to grill, which was very clean. Got to see manatee almost every day and even got to touch one while it enjoyed the kids swimming with it. Disappointed that I did not see any dolphin which was a first! Appreciated having linens and towels provided. Wes was awesome. We would definitely stay here again.

This has to be one of the best places I’ve ever stay! Unit 4 is my favorite. You can lay on the bed and watch the water. See dolphins and pelicans dive! There are beach supplies there for you to use! Wes the owner is amazing! I guarantee you will have a great time!

"Tonya, looks like you come back to Sun N Fun every year. Thank you for staying with us. ITs helps us pay these crazy high property taxes so we can keep this treasure for the next generation of beach goers. WES and Kathy, owners since 1996. Our grandparents owned from 1966 to 1996"

This place is amazing! We have been here several times and it has never disappointed! With the windows up in the bedroom you can lay on the bed and watch the water and smell the salt air! I’ve watched dolphins playing and birds diving just about every day! We always stay in Unit 4 which I love. I would recommend this place to anyone! The owner is awesome! Very easy to get in touch with! Thank you Wes for everything! We will be back!

Location Says It All
Unit 3 in this 6 unit beach house was the unit we rented. It was a second floor, one bedroom apartment with balcony overlooking the fantastic patio, beach, and gulf. I will start by saying the unit could use a little updating BUT, we didn't go there for a mansion since we weren't in the room that much. It had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable and the towels were luxurious. The marina could be seen from the kitchen window. Has beach chairs, umbrellas, picnic tables, firepit and chairs, washer and dryer. The private beach area was the best. A condo sits to the left but there were very few people around. The other houses in the area have their own beachfront so plenty of room for all. We saw the sunset every night from the deck/backyard.Very safe area and Caddy's Bar and Grill was within walking distance. Along the strip were many other eating places and a great souvenir shop. Guilty Sea Sports Bar was another excellent place. The owner was one of the best I have ever dealt with. Immediate responses from him and he told us the history of the place. He was a joy to get to know and obviously cares about the beach house very much. He was always available for us even though he wasn't local. We had a chance to view all 6 units and they were all unique in their own way. We are having trouble deciding which one we want to rent for next year. We will definitely return. After staying here, I will have a hard time going back to a hotel. (We had a reservation at Pier 60 in Clearwater but canceled after finding this gem and are so glad we did.)Thanks to Wes for being such a terrific owner and I hope you can always keep this in your family.
