About the owner: I have been a host since purchasing my grandparent's cabin on Lake Superior in Lutsen, MN in 2009. I grew up in Minnesota, received a bachelor's degree at the university of Minnesota and a Master's degree at UCLA. My cousin and his family have lived in Sarasota for years. My wife and I visited them in 2019, and decided we wanted a house in Sarasota County. We fell in love with Venice Island, because it reminded us a little of California, with all the benefits of Florida like warmer weather, boating, and family. We currently live on the St. Croix river in Wisconsin, just outside St. Paul, MN.
Why this property? We found this property when we were biking through the neighborhood. We love it's location - we wanted a property where we could walk to the beach with a cup of coffee in the morning, or a cocktail in the evening. Also we can walk to the many restaurants, bars and shops in downtown Venice. I usually ride my bike to Publix for groceries unless we have a large shopping list. Finally, the Island is such a wonderful place to ride your bike with the 5-mile Venice Island bike route, or just walk to the many parks, or even for a nice drive. And everything Sarasota has to offer is close too. Finally, the Island doesn't suffer from the tourist traffic during the seasonal month like many of the keys do; there is never a 45 minute traffic jam to get on/off the Island like there is on Siesta Key, for instance.
