We've enjoyed visiting Venice for many years and decided to purchase a beautiful golf course condo. The area offers world class beaches plus a great mix of city amenities, including the Venice Theater, YMCA, Planet Fitness, access to healthcare, while providing a relaxing feel of a small beach resort town. The recently renovated downtown Venice has wonderful shops, restaurants, ice cream and a host of activities in Centennial Park. And we are only 4 miles (a 10 minute drive) from CoolToday Stadium, the new spring training home of the Atlanta Braves. The newly opened Wellen Park planned community is on the way. Stop in to shop, dine and find evening entertainment at the brand new downtown center. Free music on "The Round" every friday night.

Our condo is in the meticulously landscaped Plantation Golf & Country Club community. There are many high quality, public welcome (and affordable) golf courses nearby. Parking is free at Sarasota County beaches. Several beaches (Manasota and Venice) are just a few minutes away by car. We are only a 35 minute drive to Siesta Key Beach. Siesta Key has been rated at the very top of beaches to visit in America for many years. Nokomis beach at the west end of Albee Rd has Drum Circles prior to sunset on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Bring your chairs, snacks, beverages and our drum to join in the beat!

Our west facing lanai and patio provides a wide vista that overlooks a small lake on the Bobcat golf course. It's a fantastic place to watch a variety of tropical birds while having your coffee or anytime. The nature opportunities of the Sarasota County Parks, bird rookery, Myakka river and beaches are incredible. One of our favorite activities is walking the beach, soaking up the sunshine as the gulf breeze and sea sounds sweep over us. Yes, we are a little shark's tooth crazy. We've even had some fantastic luck hunting for them at night by flashlight!

We live in Ohio and work full time hoping that some year in the future, we will be able to retire to our 'Ibis Paradise'. Because we expect to live there, we decided to incorporate high quality materials in the condo's renovation project. You'll find granite sink tops (dual sinks in the master), raised vanities, all new faucets, effective bathroom fans, increased lighting, new high quality shower doors and a beautiful walk-in tiled shower in the master bathroom. We even purchased the taller, more comfortable, toilets for each bath. Other improvements include high quality wall-to-wall carpeting in both bedrooms and vertical blinds. We added solar shades to our main lanai that reduce 90% of sun light while still being able to see images through them. Speedy Wifi and a quiet dishwasher contribute to your peace and quiet. We added a new stacked, front loading washer and dryer unit for your private laundry. Our living room is upgraded with swivel rocker recliners, a sofa sleeper and a smart HDTV. Some other activities we look forward to are going to Sharky's to walk the newly improved pier, catch a dinner, live music and a drink. We enjoy hiking in the many close parks and preserves for nature viewing and exercise. Or a more civilized walk around Wellen Park's lake might be our mood. Maybe lunch and drinks at the Atlanta Braves - Cool Today Tomahawk bar overlooking the ball diamond? Open 7 days a week when Spring Training activities are not in session.

But the best part about our Venice home is that we don't have to go anywhere to experience the amazing sunsets that unravel each evening at Ibis Paradise. At cocktail hour, we can lift our glasses to toast the setting, burnt orange sun as we dine on our own lanai.

Some condos make you feel crowded and close to your neighbors. Not Ibis Paradise. We have a peaceful setting with comfortable spacing and our vertical walls on both connected sides are concrete block construction with fantastic sound proofing. Our building is a staggered design adding to the privacy of our lanais and patio.

Area Information

Located in the beautifully maintained Plantation. You instantly feel a resort atmosphere. Great opportunities for walking and biking right in the neighborhood. Farmington Vistas condo association welcomes renters, just as if they were owners, into all social gatherings and activities. Farmington is considered one of the most "social" of groups. A wide variety of activities, hobbies, games and even volunteer opportunities too.

The Plantation is just a couple of minutes away from the newly constructed Wellen Park planned community. New businesses, stores and restaurants are clamoring to open up there. Plus the Spring training stadium of the Atlanta Braves.

Short drives get you to shopping centers. Walmart, Costco, Bealls, Target and much more. Two Publix (grocery) are nearby, plus lots of restaurants to discover. The Tarpon Point Grill and Marina offers wonderful food and inside or outdoor dining that overlooks the Myakka river.

Don't forget our state and county 'preserves' for nature hikes. There are paved trail options and forest exploring as well.

Beaches... Manasota is our favorite, about a 12 minute drive anytime. We like free morning yoga there and at Venice Beach. Other beaches are Caspersen, Nokomis, Blind Pass and Englewood. Several have weekly Drum circles to enjoy the setting sun over the gulf with your favorite refreshment.

Pop's Sunset Grill is one of our favorites - Watch the intercoastal boats and drawbridge.
Food and Music - an evening at Valenti's Allegro Bistro for fine Italian dining.
Bar food and Thai with sports TV? The Sand Trap is elegant (if you can call a bar that)
Dockside at Marker 4. In a marina setting to watch the boats with excellent food and a beautiful bar (very outside feeling).
Nokomo Sunset Hut - you guessed it. Amazing sundown setting. Lots of live music here too.
Farlows in Englewood. Really good food w/ fancier plating. A riverside setting that's very nice.

Inside Scoop

Finding sharks teeth...
Manasota, Caspersen (closed since hurricane Milton) and Nokomis beaches are currently the best for shark tooth finding. Venice beach had a major restoration project in 2015 brought dredged sand in from the gulf. It must have covered most of the teeth because finding one is very rare.
Hard to get seating at Valenti Allegro for dinners and music nights. Attempt to reserve well in advance. Tons of fun, highly recommend.
It's a little further drive to The Grill at 1951, Port Charlotte. But you'll be "Wowed" by their nightly musical entertainment and plethora of Martinis. Check their website for reservations, deals and timing.
