A day at Turtle Crawl has its own natural rhythm and it tends to move at exactly the pace the name suggests. Morning coffee at the bay window seat or the high-top deck table, the Gulf catching the early light. The beach is 75 steps down a stone walkway off the back — load up from the stocked closet and head out when you're ready. Afternoons split between the surf, the community pool, and the easy-clean LVP floors back inside, the electric fireplace on if the day turns cool. But the real magic of Turtle Crawl is the evening: the tiki bar at ground level comes into its own as the sun drops, the high-top deck chairs above hold whoever wants the elevated view, and the king master suite garden tub waits for whoever needs the longest wind-down. Cape San Blas is one of Florida's most precious sea turtle nesting beaches — named for the slow, deliberate crawl those ancient animals make from water to sand to nest. The main level is granite-finished, LVP-floored, and open-concept — a well-equipped kitchen with hutch for extra grocery storage, breakfast bar with two barstools, dining room, living room with electric fireplace and queen sleeper sofa, bay window seat, and a large Gulf-view deck with gas grill and high-top Polywood bar seating. The twin-over-queen adult-size bunk room with its own private balcony and full bath is on this level — flexible for families with kids or adult groups who need the extra capacity.

This townhome is located in the gated, pet-friendly community of Barrier Dunes. The beach is pet-friendly as well. It is located just outside the gates to St Joseph Peninsula State Park. The park is a great place to explore and enjoy hiking trails, surrounded by St Joe Bay on three sides.
Barrier Dunes has 2 pools (One is direct beach front), lighted tennis courts, 3 freshwater fishing ponds, playground, pet stations, boat washing and parking area, and boardwalks throughout

If you need a few groceries or beach items, visit the Cape Trading Post or Scallop Cove (on the Cape). They also have great ice cream and fresh donuts, and Hunts Brothers pizza.

This was our fourth year to the Cape and we have rented from Wendy every time. The condo was fantastic! Very clean and organized with everything we needed to live comfortably, as a family of five, at the beach for a week. We found plenty of books and board games awaiting us on rainy days as well as movies. Days on the beach were a breeze all thanks to a beach closet stocked with beach chairs, toys and a cart to haul it all with. Wendy was exceptional at communicating exactly what we needed to bring with us and what was provided. Her website has answers to any possible question you could have and she also leaves a binder full of info on the coffee table in the unit. I highly recommend Turtle Crawl! Our family made a ton of memories there. We will definitely call upon Wendy again next summer!

This was the second time we have stayed at Barrier Dunes with Cape Escape and it was absolutely wonderful. Turtle Crawl was so close to the beach and the sunset from the upper deck was just amazing. The unit was well stocked with everything we needed and very clean. Most relaxing vacation we have had in a long time. Spent some time fishing and catching blue crab. Nothing like a dinner of crab you caught yourself that same day. Our dog Sunny was so at home she did not want to leave. Everything was perfect. A visit to Killer Seafood in Mexico Beach is an absolute must. Can't wait to come back and do it all again!

Turtle crawl was an excellent vacation spot! We had everything we needed and the condo was spotless! It was only a few steps to the beach and we had a great view from the upper deck. The rental has a beach cart, chairs, umbrellas, and even sand buckets! We had a wonderful time and Wendy was great to work with. Seriously, don’t think twice, just go! You won’t regret it!

Took a chance on barrier dunes last year not knowing what to expect. To make a long story short..we had the best vacation with our 8 year old bassett in 20 years. (who we never leave alone or board). We met fantastic couples with their dogs.(who were regular renters for the past 6 to 10 years at barrier dunes) . We have kept in touch with them all year and we met them in February 21 for another great time. Our "turtle crawl" condo has everything we need, including dog bowls, outside hot water shower and special towels for dogs. Its immaculate and very welcoming. We certainly don't want any surprises in accommodations after driving 23 hours from Wisconsin. Our landlord "wendy" makes sure we have everything we need. She is but a phone call away. We have already secured our 5 weeks stay for next year. Its so peaceful and the beach is not crowded.

We had never been to Cape San Blas and not to the beach in October either. We will totally do it again! The area was absolutely gorgeous! The condos were perfectly stocked with everything we needed to cook and grill and the beach chairs and toys were perfect for us. We brought our dog and 2 daughters and had plenty of space in the condo and it was clean and only steps from the beach boardwalk. Totally loved this trip!

We absolutely loved staying at Turtle Crawl. We were able to bring our pets and literally we were a short easy walk to the beach! Literally steps to the ocean. The condo was everything we could have wanted, super comfortable furniture with all the things you need if you want to cook at home. This was the perfect place for our family and we will definitely be back to stay at Turtle Crawl.

The condo was very well set up for both people and pets. The showers and water-hose on the ground level was perfect to get the sand and saltwater off everyone when returning from the beach. The view of the Gulf from the upper balcony were breathtaking especially at sunset. We will be back in the years to come.

We spent a week in the Turtle Crawl rental at Barrier Dunes in Cape San Blas. Having a rental with all the “essentials” for my family and my fur baby made everything so much easier. My family enjoyed the week exploring all the amazing nature trails, playing volleyball at the local park, relaxing on the pristine beach and exploring the bay in rented kayaks. Cape San Blas is a laidback piece of heaven that allows you to disconnect and enjoy the pure beauty around you, with the added bonus of watching all the pups on the beach playing. We cannot wait to go back again in the fall.

This is a great place for young families. The beach is within easy walking distance for both 2 and 4 year olds. Not too crowded. Beautiful white sand. Gentle waves that little kids enjoy. A great first beach experience for our grandkids. Two swimming pools. Playground is not yet repaired. Three balconies. The condo comes with a beach cart and chairs -- fabulous. An outside shower to rinse off before going upstairs, and an outside hose to rinse beach gear. Very convenient. We brought the family dog and there are lots of places to walk dogs. Wendy was wonderful helping us with booking and Teresa (onsite) was very helpful. Would definitely rent again.

This was our 1st visit to the cape ,an it truely is a BEAUTIFUL PLACE, TURTLE CRAWL,was very clean,,I usually have to clean when we arrive , not this time. We usually bring cleaning supplies, garbage bags,dishwashing liquid,laundry detergent and spices, not this time, WENDY. (the owner) HAD ALL THIS STOCKED.. Thank you.!!!!! Beach chairs an toys were also provided with a cart to pull it to beach, which we used every day, even though the beach was maybe 65 feet from our door. This lady thought of everything., We normally don't rent PET APPROVED HOMES. Sophie is a redigestered service dog.(2.5lb)so never any issues, She is allergic to fleas, an the few pet friendly homes, we have occupied weren't clean. I wanted to visit the cape, so took my chance, I wasn't sure what to expect, ,,I WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED!!! Everything was clean, furniture very nice, master bedroom very large ,with nice balcony to view the ocean, bed very comfy. My grandsons loved it,, we had a wonderful time, so glad I took a chance on TURTLE CRAWL,hope to visit again in August. Thank you Wendy, for sharing your home with my family. We had the most amazing week at Cape San Blas!The check-in details were spot on and we got there to the most perfect sunset! The home was clean and everything we expected and then some! Everything promised was there and we realized we overpacked! We don't the next time we visit!The beach was as pretty as I have ever seen. No crowds, just miles of beautiful, white-sand beaches and we loved being able to have our dog with us. Very pet-friendly area too!We enjoyed the beachfront pool that was just about a 1-minute walk from Turtle Crawl, long walks on the beach, a beach bonfire under the most amazing stars, enjoyed great seafood out and bought fresh shrimp at St. Joe Seafood company right on the Cape and made our own in the home. Even grilled oysters on the back deck one night.Wendy was great to work with from deciding on Turtle Crawl to questions along the way. Cape San Blas was PERFECT and so was the home. Already booked our next trip and look forward to getting back!Thank you for everything!
