About the owner: We both play competitive softball, David on a men's team and Penne on a ladies team. We travel all over the US and usually are going in different directions. We love being able to take a break and come to the Cape for rest and relaxation and to enjoy the peace and ambiance of it. When we are there we are happy to share our home so that others can experience the Cape
Why this property? Years ago when we came to the Cape on a camping trip we loved it so much that we decided to make an investment there. That was 34 years ago when the Cape was very much uninhabited and quite a magical place. It continues to have the quiet atmosphere since there are no high rises, go cart tracks or fast food restauraunts there. There are hiking trails, lots of wildlife, parks, nature walks and even two new pickle ball courts. Even though we had hurricane damage we are in for the long haul at the Cape. It is worth it!
Hurricane Opal was our first home on the Cape. When she took it from us we were excited to find an area on the Cape to rebuild that offered more ambiance, tranquility and privacy. The beaches are very wide, less populated and offer an abundance of wild life and good fishing.

Guestbook comments from the host:
We love our stay at Flip Flop! It IS our home away from home! We are close to the beach and have all of the amenities we have in our own home. The property is well-maintained; we appreciate the new additions the owner has provided.
Loved the feeling of an older beach cottage with just the right amount of update! Simple, pleasant decor. Coastal Joe was fantastic, as usual!
A Flip Flop had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The house being pet friendly and having a pool is a must for us.
The proximity to the beach and access to a private pool were great. The lighting inside was poor - several light bulbs were out which made it difficult to cook. The trash can was also already over flowing when we arrived. Otherwise everything was fine and it was nice to be able to walk to the trading post.
This home is comfortable, convenient, and had everything we needed. The pool was clean and very enjoyable on the days when water clarity at the beach wasn't good. It is not a large house but we still had room to be comfortable. Loved the clean laundry room with new washer/dryer. Overall loved it and wil likely stay again. Flies were a slight problem but only when the wind was blowing in from the North. Please consider making this house part of the VayK gear program so we can get a cart.
We loved our week at a flip flop, the house was close to the beach. It was really nice to have a private pool and beach for the kids to go-between. Our dogs had their first trip to the beach and loved it! We can't wait to come back to Cape San Blas.
This is our second stay at A Flip Flop. We love it. Great location, nicely decorated and has plenty of supplies. It's a short walk to the beach and is pet friendly.
For overall experience was fantastic we really enjoyed the property enjoyed the pool enjoyed the short walk to the beach the only drawback was the beds Need some time of topper or new mattress very difficult to sleep on Ended up sleeping on the couch for most nights
This property was perfect for our vacation needs. It fit comfortably 4 adults and one toddler! It was a short 2-3 min walk to the beach (tough terrain for a wagon) and the private pool was a hit! No beach view, but you pay a lot more for that. The only negative thing I can say would be that the outdoor cabana roof was missing/broken which would have been nice for shade at the pool and a couple of the plastic outdoor chairs and pool floats were broken or damaged and could use replacing. But we were still able to have a blast despite that!
Our family cherishes our week at Cape San Blas every year and this year, once again, didn't disappoint. A Flip Flop was perfect for our family of 4 and the pool was nice to come back to after a long day at the beach.
Another great stay!
This was our third stay in Flip Flop vacation rental. We consider it our "home" away from our Wisconsin home. This little house has all the amenities we need for our five week stay. It has little things like ample coat hangers in the closets, laundry baskets and mixing bowls/muffin tins for whipping up an early morning breakfast treat! The owners provide the big things, too! Last year, we were greeted by a picnic table on the deck and this year we were surprised to see the new couch and love seat as well as the kitchen range! Property upkeep is important to the owners and we appreciate the care they personally put into the rental house to keep it in good shape. Flip Flop has a super location - we really are just steps away from the beach!
