About the Property
For a wonderful beach vacation, while still practicing full social-distancing due to coronavirus concern, this house is the answer.
This house is right on the beach, but is a mile away from public parking or other public access. The beach is very sparsely populated. You won't see more than a few other beachgoers at any given time. In fact you will often have the beach completely to yourself. Excessive contact is no problem.
If Florida closes its public beaches, our beach remains legally open and accessible, as a private property beach. This is fitting given its isolation from public access, and its sparse numbers of beach-goers.
5 Bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths. Quiet, warm and sunny place to relax. This is in a very quiet part of the island Shells and sharks' teeth are plentiful. Dolphins and sea turtles are common sights.
This 2800 sq ft house was built in 1965. It sits at the top of a short bluff overlooking the beach. The sunroom provides a panoramic view of the beach and the Gulf, and of beautiful sunsets each evening. The sunroom has plenty of seating and an informal dining table with seating for 4. It is a quiet, comfortable place to enjoy a leisurely morning coffee. The sunroom adjoins the living room where you'll find several sofas around a large-screen TV with cable access. Wi-Fi is provided.
Four of the bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms are off to the side of the living room. Two of these bedrooms each have 2 full (double) beds and are joined by a bathroom with double sinks and a tub/shower combination. Of the other two, one has 4 twin beds and the other a double bed. These are also joined by a bathroom with a tub/shower combination.
The fifth bedroom and 3rd full bathroom are on the opposite side of the living room, providing more privacy and a quieter space for taking an afternoon nap. This bedroom has a Queen-size bed, a TV, an ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower, and nice gulf views.
Next to the living room is the fully-equipped kitchen and a more formal dining area with seating for 10. Adjacent to the kitchen is a half-bath and a laundry/utility room with a full-size washer and dryer. There is a detached 1-car garage. It has beach furniture and beach toys.
Without exaggeration, you will be one of just a few people on the beach. And you will often have the beach entirely to yourselves. Yet your car will get you to shopping and full civilization in 10 minutes for anything you need, or want, including restaurants, tiki bars, fun shopping, boat rentals, bait shop, grocery.
Good fishing. At various times, we have caught redfish, snook, speckled trout, pompano, mackerel, sheepshead, flounder, whiting, small grouper, sharks, sea bass.
Why Kids Love It
The beach is just feet from the house. It is a comfortable, relaxed home, and kid friendly. Fishing from the beach. Also good spearfishing in the rocks off the beach. At the bottom of the key is a boat rental company.
Nearby Englewood and Venice offer parks, movies, and fun fashion clothing and beachwear shops.
Englewood offers everything you should need or want. The house is located in the middle of Manasota Key, far from public parking. The homes around it are almost all private vacation homes, and only intermittently occupied. Thus this is a very sparsely populated beach.
Yet, you are only a short drive from shopping, restaurants, tiki bars, public parks, playgrounds, cute coffee shops, and souvenir and beach stores. There is a bait shop at the bottom of the key for fishermen, and a boat rental next to that. You can also be in the heart of Venice in 15 minutes. This is a famous tourist town with a beautiful beach and jetty. Sarasota, a full city with its Siesta Key, St. Armand's Key, St. Armand's Circle for high-end shopping, and Ringling Gardens, is just a 45 minute drive.

Excellent fishing area. The rocky area about 75 yards to the south is well known and boats come from far away to fish these rocks. A reef structure runs parallel to the beach 30-40 feet off the beach, making for better fishing and spearfishing.

Year Purchased: 1965
About the owner: The house has been owned by the same family since it was built in 1965. The original owner, a successful businessman, bought the land and built the home as a gift to his parents. After they had both passed away, he reacquired the property in the 1990's and it has remained in the family to today.
Why this property? When the home was built in the 1960's, most of the nearby offshore islands, or keys, on the southwest coast were sparsely inhabited, as was Manasota Key. Since that time however, most of the islands with automobile access (e.g., Siesta Key, Casey Key, Sanibel Island, Boca Grande) became very developed and commercial, with busy streets, shops, condominium complexes and loud, crowded beaches. Not so Manasota Key! Except for the bottom 10% of the Key, the rest of the Key has just one road (Manasota Key Road) running down the middle, with vacation homes on both the bay and the gulf sides. These homes are generally only intermittently occupied. There is a north bridge and a south bridge for the only auto access to the island. Our property is near the middle between the bridges, far from any public parking. It remains quiet and unspoiled to this day. If that appeals to you, this is for you. And yet you are only a 10 minute drive to shopping, dining and entertainment.
