About the Property
Update Saturday, May 2, 2020: Phase 1 of Re-open Florida begins Monday, May 4, but still no vacation rentals in Phase 1. Duration of Phase 1 is unknown. Phase 2 allows rental to Florida residents only, with 72 hours between guests. Phase 3 is mostly business as usual. Will continue to post updates as they occur. Hey fellow Floridians – pack a bag and plan to come to the beach soon!
Update Friday, April 10, 2020: According to the order, it is now considered fraudulent and unlawful to advertise a short-term vacation rental unit in Anna Maria that does not state all restaurants on Anna Maria Island are limited to takeout service only and all bars are closed.
It is also considered fraudulent and unlawful to not include mention of the governor’s 14-day mandatory self-quarantine requirements that apply to visitors from specific states and cities.
Update Tuesday, March 31, 2020: No vacation rentals until further notice, per Gov. Ron DeSantis. Negates update from last week (below) but couldn't quite bear to delete it. Better times ahead - and sand, sea and sun aren't going anywhere!
Update Tuesday, March 24, 2020: Cancellations are happening, so calendars have been updated. Beach is closed. However, AMI Publix is well-stocked - except for TP - BYOTP! Many restaurants are still doing take-out, and the weather is amazing. If you can get here safely, and just want a place to relax and do very little, come visit!
Osprey Roost has 2 bedrooms - a large master with two beds, and a cozy second bedroom with a queen bed. The house can sleep 6 adults. There is a large living area, with an adjacent full-size dining room. It also has a small breakfast nook, which provides additional seating for dining or a great spot for card-playing.
The master bedroom has both a king-size bed and a queen-size bed. A full-size bath is adjoining with tub and shower. The other bedroom has a queen-size bed. There is a small third bedroom affectionately known as the "hidey-hole" with 3 twin beds - perfect for children.
The kitchen has recently undergone a bit of remodeling with some new cabinets and a new tile floor. There is lots and lots of storage and pantry space, and a door that opens directly onto a patio with a gas grill and picnic table.
There are two garages - one of them is primarily for storage of all the beach stuff, and the other currently houses our bicycles. Either could be used for a vehicle for longer stays.
The yard is nice and shady, with an outdoor shower. However, there is no fence. Osprey Roost is pet-friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or at newly-opened Neal and Perico Preserves, but they can swim at the boat ramp or at the Palma Sola causeway, just a short drive away. Dogs are also welcome at Robinson Preserve, but they must be on leash.
Osprey Roost is in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic and mostly full-time residents. It is walkable to shopping, restaurants, bike & boat rental, post office and groceries. There is also a free trolley that runs the length of Anna Maria Island, as well as Longboat Key to the south, and a trolley stop very close to the house.

Ideal home away from home
We can't stop talking about how much we miss "our" Osprey Roost. The car rarely leaves the driveway, as everything we need and want is within walking distance. The gulf is a very short walk, as are the restaurants and stores we frequent. Osprey Roost offers a perfect place to unwind and make ourselves at home. The owner (Denise) makes herself available, if necessary, and welcomes our dog, who also loves the house. We're already looking forward to next year!
