About the owner: My wife Lee and I live in New Hampshire. We are both therapists. She is a school social worker and I run a child and family practice with my father. We recently had our first child, Jon and he is amazing. We love to be active and go kayaking, canoeing, and biking, but we also love to kick back and relax.
Why this property? My grandparents had a seasonal home in Venice so I have been visiting since I was a child. Now my parents own a home there that they use as a vacation home as well and have been very successfully renting for 6 years now. Lee and I chose this home because we love the area and we know what type of people will love it too. It's important to find the right vacation match for you and we feel comfortable recommending this home to almost any vacationer. Ask us questions!!! We want it to be an unforgettable vacation home experience for you! You'll never think of condos or hotels again!!

Great vacation home, but beaches terrible
The home was very comfortable and roomy, with every amenity one could need. Well supplied with kitchen supplies, towels, beach and pool floats, etc. The pool and yard was great and in a nice quiet neighborhood close to shopping, restaurants, and anything one might need. Our only problems was all the beaches for miles around both north and south had the red tide. We could not get out anywhere close to the beaches without having trouble breathing and coughing. There were dead fish, sea turtles, etc. The smell was noxious. There was no way we would have swam in the water. We heard from locals that this has been going on since October. We wish we had known. We had actually come down to look at some property to buy for a winter home, but will be rethinking this in the future. I wish, there was better reporting on the water quality before people drive such a long way to experience the gulf. My sister and her husband live in Jacksonville Beach and had rented a beach cottage for a week, but could not stay and returned to the other side of the state. Thank heavens we had the comfortable home and pool to enjoy for our trip, but will probably not return to this area in the future unless Florida corrects its' water issues. Hate to be negative, but feel sorry for the people who have homes in the area.

Hi LInda,Thank you for writing a review of our home. We work hard to provide the best rental experience possible. We have never had renters complain about red tide until this year. Lee and I are doing our best to monitor it closer and give renters a heads up. Apparently heat with rain and fertilzer run off creates the red tide. It's been a rain hot summer. We appreciate the feedback and plan to pay closer attention to red tide issues in the future so we can make future renters aware.Ryan
