Unique Benefits

From the balcony or beach you’re likely to see dolphins playing and sea birds fishing. The sole manatee may swim by you; you might even see a gathering of manatees on the beach if you’re there in mating season. And turtles nest on the beach in the spring and babies hatch in the summer. (Please be considerate by limiting lighting so that mother turtles and their babies are not confused about how to get back to the ocean.)

Why Kids Love It

The beach and pools are always options. Enjoy floats and games in the pool. Practice swimming, skim boarding or surfing.
In addition there is a pool table in the community lounge and shuttle board right outside.
At the nearby public beach you can access a playground and tennis courts.

About the owner: I grew up in the Florida panhandle and attended Florida State University, but I moved to Georgia when I married and while we raised our children. When my sisters bought retirement homes on Siesta Key, my husband and I bought a place so that we could retire near them. However, even after my husband died and I retired, I have stayed in the metro Atlanta area where my children and grandchildren live -- so I only get to Siesta Key for vacations. But I love to share the beauty and I get joy out of my renters’ pleasure in being there.

Why this property? We especially loved this setting on the Gulf. Compared to other condos on the beach, we found that this unit got us closest to the beach with the best views from both inside and from the balcony.
The second-floor units have the advantage of elevation from ground level, but you still see the land, the sky, and the sea as a framed view from interior rooms.
We love watching the local wildlife: pods of dolphins swim by; sea birds fish in the surf; you might have a manatee swim by. Depending on the time of the year, you are likely to find sea turtle tracks in the sand if get up early in the morning. (You'll want to consider your lighting during nesting and hatching seasons.)
Compared to the busyness of the public beach, Whispering Sand's section of beach is relatively private and you might even find times when you have it all to yourself.
On the other hand, you are close enough to enjoy the playground, tennis courts. and the Sunday night drum circle at the public beach.
The beach-front towers of Whispering Sands have the advantage of being both right on the Gulf and right on the fringe of the Village with all its shopping and nightlife. But while you will be close to the activity, it's separate enough that you will only hear the peaceful quiet of lapping of waves.

BEST place on the key! Closest to the sand and to the village.

We couldn't have been happier with this home. There is no better location on all of Siesta Key. You can easily walk to the village (not this case with most condos south on the key) but it's also very quiet, unlike some of the in-village places. Also you're just north of the village so getting on and off the key when you want to go downtown is easy. Most of all you are RIGHT on the beach - which is really exceptional. We loved hearing the surf from bed in the mornings and the view from the balcony is just breathtaking. While the complex is older like most places on Siesta Key, the condo is really well cared for and is well appointed with new items in the kitchen, linens, sofas, TV etc. The kitchen is large and easy to move around and the open flow from kitchen/dining/living/outdoor screened balcony is the best. The pool right on the beach is great and wasn't ever busy and it's a luxury to have beach chairs waiting on the sand. It really is like a private oasis at the end of Crescent beach.
