Why Kids Love It
Kids love it because of the pool, and because there are so many activities and water sports in the area.
To me, just about the nicest part of the keys. Closer to the mainland I find too much concrete, and Key West while quaint and pretty is too crowded for me. A secret: do not miss going to Fisherman's Wharf, fresh caught stone crabs in season and frozen for the rest of the year. A huge variety of restaurants, mostly very good. Marathon is a lovely central place from which to explore the rest of the keys.
Attractions Within Walking Distance
I walk to Sombrero Beach for the exercise although parking is good and you can easily drive. Ditto banks and shops.
Favorite Places To Eat
Just about everywhere is good. Very seldom a poor meal.
See above, Fisherman's wharf.

Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: My husband bought the house in 1998. Hurricane Irma damaged it badly in 2017 and what with insurance and building delays it only re-opened this year, completely and utterly rebuilt. Everything is brand new with many upgrades. It's a delight.
I was born in Jamaica of British parents, and have lived there all my life and am still there. I wanted an offshore investment and looked at many houses, but fell in love with the charm of this one. I will go there regularly again as Covid becomes more controlled. I am a retired Interior Designer, and artist and also have rental properties in Jamaica.
Why this property? My husband's plane was once diverted because of weather, from Miami, to Key West. As he flew over the keys he thought how nice it would be to have a tropical home in the USA, we had had some difficult years in Jamaica during the 70s. So I went up and looked, and found one, on Duck Key. But the deposit wasn't made fast enough so we lost it. So I went back again, and fell in love at first sight with Keyhole. When we divorced in 2003, I bought the house from him and it has been used and enjoyed.
